McDonalds Franchisees fined after 10 year olds were found working
Three McDonalds in the Louisville Area have to pay over $212k
305 minors were found working more hours than legally than permitted
This includes 2 10 year olds! What??! On top of this they were employed but not paid and worked as late as 2am! One even operated a deep fryer.
Ruth Chris Steak House bought for $715m
Louisiana based restaurant Ruth Chris was recently bought by Darden Restaurants, owner of Olive Garden.
Interestingly thr original steak house was opened on New Orlean's Broad Street in 1927, and it was acquired by Ruth Fertel in 1965.
Ruth Chris has 154 locations world wide.
It will be interesting to see the future of Ruth Chris under the new leadeeship. Will it devalue the brand? Will they implememt some Olive Garden flair? Only time will tell.
Dennys in Kansas City engulfed in flames
There *was* a Dennys in Kansas City, MO on Blue Ridge Cutoff that caught on fire at 11:26pm.
Luckily no one injured.
There is a Dennys in my city that catches fire literally every two weeks because they dont clean their hood vents or their fryers. This causes a build up of grease in the fryer vents and hood which will eventually ignite since its around constant heat.
Online Ordering and Executing Togos
Since the beginning of Covid, togos and olos have been up tremendously. Some restaurant brands are reporting a 15% increase and more in togos since 2021.
Restaurants that werent adapted to togos, im looking at you full service folks, had to adapt to survive. Many of us also had to revert our view on togos.
Today were going to deep dive into what benefits togo and olo orders give us and the 3 most common mistakes made by operators.
Benefits:
More revenue- this opens a stream of revenue not previously available to most locations. It opens a new market of Guests that would otherwise dine out with fast food.
Higher volume - you can sell 10 togos faster than you can execute 1 dine in order
Its scalable. Your best marketing for this is perfect execution.
Opportunity to add a few extra positions if it makes sense. Just as you have servers and hosts and cooks, if your togo business blossoms, you could add a few extra folks who only do togos which would only further the effectiveness of togos and incresse even more revenue.
Common mistakes:
1- Not having a clear and consice system for togos
Not having a system in place that is clearly understood within your team is a recipe for disaster. Just as it would be in any other position in your restaurant.
2- Considering them less important than dine in guests.
3- Executing the order early or too late.
