t's almost the norm now to expect a 50% show-up rate in both fast casual and full dining alike. We can blame it on Covid. We can blame it on people. This is a new era. We need to adjust. In our realm, it's no longer who has the best resume, it's what employer can stand out from the rest. To be an Evolved Leader, you have to take responsibility. The job experience begins with the first interaction. Create the experience that your applicant won't forget. They are applying everywhere and likely have another interview scheduled. Your first call, be genuinely excited to talk to them. People have great b******t detectors.  Be quick and to the point and have your calendar up and ready to plug in the interview date and time this way you can confirm with the interviewee that they received confirmation. Day of the interview, call the interviewee again and confirm the time and that you are really looking forward to meeting them. Before they even set foot in the door, you've already engaged them twice. By now they've heard your voice and name enough to feel more comfortable during the interview than if you just sent a cold text or email. Take Action. Create an experience. Don't wait.
