All history podcasts should strive to be this engaging!
I’m a latecomer to the Secret Life of Canada (it’s two seasons in now) and am so glad I’ve found it. I’ve binged all the available episodes in a very short amount of time! The two hosts are the best - genuine, crazy smart, super funny (I love it when they make eachother laugh!) and so clearly passionate and invested in telling these under-told stories. Season 2’s episode “Water” is a real standout, and the episode on Birchtown (from the archive stream) is so eye opening. You’ll never look at Canada’s history with slavery the same again. I’m so grateful for this podcast, as it provides a much needed entry point to learn about Canada beyond what we've been taught in Heritage Minutes. Do yourself a service and listen to it.Read full review »

Not sure why CBC decided to pick up an anti-Canadian podcast.

I love this show! It includes the history we’re familiar with and stories that rarely get told be need to be. Also refreshing to learn history from two young women of colour. Always makes me smile, often brings a tear to my eye, and always, always, teaches me something.

Thank you for the stories that are left untold - I’m learning more and more about this country and our history with each listen. I especially appreciate that you inform but insert humour to lighten the heavy content
