I started listening to Secret Life of Canada after hearing a quick commercial and after my first episode I was hooked. I love learning facts about Canada that are not taught or touched on. I love viewpoints and the passion the hosts give to each episode. I recommend this Podcast to everyone I...Read full review »

Amazing depth. Incredible facts. Super engaging. And… I love the banter between the two of you. I think it’s so important to be able to laugh while also tackling heavy subject matter.

I found the hosts to be very engaging and present in an appropriate manner. Great topics and fulfilling a service for a void that has existed for far too long. Thanks !

I finished hearing about Japanese Canadian internments. Great episode and I learned a lot. I found the girl-humour and joviality a bit out of place and somewhat trivialising the somber subject matter. Nonetheless, 4 stars for content and coverage.

Unfortunately, it is filled with misleading information and it is hard not to hear the bias when they are taking. Still has a lot of potential if we move to a more professional type of journalism.

Canada is awesome country to be at. Not perfect but what country is? Revisiting our past mistakes help us grow better. One love to all humanity! Keep up the good work

Love the banter. Love the humour. Love how informative it is about essential parts of Canadian history no on talks or knows about it. HIGHLY recommend.

Drop the pointless banter and just tell the story, please!!!

Such potential-but the giggling and adolescent behavior of the 2 women hosts ruined the content. That said, I did listen to an older episode. I’ll try a later one and see if there was any improvement. If not, I’ll Unsubscribe,

love the tone and texture of this alternative presentation of Canadian history; presented with lots of pep and humour. Thanks

The Neutral Indians were ethnically cleansed by the Iroquois Nation. You are horrible at recognizing how indigenous people killed and exploited each other. Your narrative is that European bad, native good. Yes other cultures led the the downfall of Indians, but you also need to recognize that...Read full review »

I am loving this series. Thank you for delving into the history of Canada. Your curiosity, intelligence, humour and humanity make for fascinating listening! Bravo!

I found that the hosts spend almost as much time joking around and talking about themselves as they do the history they’re trying to cover. This might be fine with some, but personally it’s not to my taste. I was a little disappointed because I was hoping to be able to engage more with this...Read full review »

The first podcast I’ve ever been completely taken by. I appreciate the realness of the hosts. I have learned so much. Excellent podcast. As long as its on, I will be tuning in. And I’m from the states. It’s that good.

This is an archived version of the early episodes of a Canadian history show by two amateur pod casters. The show focuses on indigenous and black perspectives, which is a refreshing take on Canadian history. These are their first episodes so much of the content is fairly raw but it is still...Read full review »

Every country has bad in their history. Enough with the demonizing it. Just give us the facts and leave your triggered comments out. Great info but needs better hosts

This podcast is about history. It seems the authors make stuff up to satisfy some personal agenda. How about some facts not shaded by BS.

To much racism for me to listen to anymore than the first episode. Some interesting listening between all the hate speech. FYI, it is still racism when it is directed towards white people. Hopefully Canadian tax dollars won’t be funding this hate speech much longer!

I just found this podcast and I love it! I’ve binge listened to every episode already because these hosts put together a lot of research, and have a great natural chemistry so it’s just easy to listen to them. This is exactly the kind of informative podcast I was looking for and the hosts MAKE it!

... but unfortunately the delivery isn’t the greatest. I agree with a previous review that the over use of “crazy” and other meaningless descriptions reduce the content.

4th year history major. Got about 10 minutes in until I couldn’t handle the snarky comments by the hosts. We get it colonialism was bad, don’t need a lecture about about it. Present the content clearly, tell the story without an annoying bias. Could be good, hosts kill it.

I've learned a good deal about the unseen side of Canada's history. The ladies who host have an entertaining back and forth with eachother while also delivering a tightly scripted exposition of whatever the topic of the episode is. Can't wait to hear more!Read full review »

Told by thoughtful, funny, and compassionate narrators. I’m so glad a friend clued me into this podcast. These two should do a speaking tour of high schools to supplement the incomplete and faulty history education that we provide to our children. Keep up the good work!

I really really wanted to love this podcast. And at first I did! The light being shone on relatively unknown stories was paired with biting commentary that occasionally went over the top but was tolerable. The podcast has gone sharply downhill. I really wanted to like this podcast and I tried but I can’t stand it any longer. The hosts are so biased and it’s overpowering. I got hooked and very interested about the banff topic but midway on this episode, I felt it’s biased and snarky. I absolutely love your show and it’s a wonderfully disturbing insight into the history of our glorious (or not so) country!
