Reasonable intelligent people on an ND podcast?
Compared to the podcasts put out by the likes of Mike Frank and Bryan Driskell, Sampson and Fortuna sound like people who would actually have completed a degree at Notre Dame - and who therefore understand the complex blend of interests involved, not just of the ND football fan, the win-loss record and the athletes' pro prospects but of the broader program and the University. They even seem to respect the entire concept of a student-athlete football program that still tries to compete with Bama, Buckeyes, Clemson and the other semi-pro teams posing as college programs. I am very tired of mutton-headed fuball dorks claiming to speak for the Irish faithful. I'd much rather listen to Prister & Co, and especially to the intelligent insights and questions of Pete Sampson, an actual hard-working reporter with an independent mind but who gets ND. They seem to have great access inside the Gug...Read full review »
