Brilliant Program. End of Story.
You know that a group of people really loves food when they get together, and come up with a broadly creative way to share that passion with everybody else! The folks who create and execute The Splendid Table touch every imaginable corner of the food "tablecloth"--culture, geography, history, science, current events, travel, literature, and art to name a few. And, in addition to all of these fascinating topics, they never fail to remind us that food grounds us in who we are, nourishes us body and soul, and hey, it's also fun to eat! It is at once intellectual and playful; a show filled with passion that doesn't take itself too seriously. I'm especially fond of the fact that a single episode can include the illuminati of haute cuisine, discussions about food science and culture, pointers on a better technique in the kitchen, and still have time for Jane and Michael Stern to wax poetic about crispy fried chicken. Take home message: food is interesting and delicious, and the most delectable morsels may be served beneath a smattering of Michelin stars, or in an Alabama diner by a guy named Bubba.Read full review »

self absorbed to do a podcast. I believe she loves the sound of her own voice more than is healthy.
