The Spy Who is great for binge listening due to its captivating stories and great narrating. The show shines a light on less talked about topics and how things could of gone very differently without the work of the people these stories are about.

A simplistic and childish account of the war in Northern Ireland in the 1980s. We are encouraged to believe a ‘super grass’ was is in reality a hero fighting for peace and understanding rather than a traitor responsible for the deaths of his comrades and the innocent alike. History is truly...Read full review »

Hats off 👏👏👏 to all - the producers & director for crafting every detailed element to the last . The narration, the environmental descriptions, the historical accuracy and for weaving all of these into the personalities celebrated here. Thanks for paying homage in such a beautiful way to a...Read full review »

The whole series of ‘The Spy Who…’, is fantastic listening, that is based on true characters, events, and stories, which leaves you eager for the next episode. I am from a background, where there is one story (not this one), that there are elements that are ‘very accurate’, and the researchers...Read full review »

As a Russian speaker, it was hard to listen to the narrator’s incorrect pronunciation of Lyalin as Lenin over and over again.

Enjoyed this podcast - interesting story - the only thing that grated was the mispronunciation of the “INLA”
Boeing scandal via Apple Podcasts · Ireland · 09/10/24
Well written, well led by the narrators, and worth a listen. Some of the wrap up episodes are a bit lame (Philby, really?), but others have wonderful experts providing additional context. Recommend s2, s4, and s6 most. The ads however, are atrocious, generic and not adjacent to this type of...Read full review »

I found the podcast a bit delusional to say that one man sold peace to the IRA, if you knew anything of the North of Ireland and the IRA then you’d know it took a hell more than to achieve peace than that.

I love this podcast. The narrative is engaging with drama and humour. The historical contexts are varied season to season. I became emotionally invested in The Spy Who Couldn’t Lie. The foreshadowing and suspense was very well done. Hearing about the experiences of this remarkable woman stirs the...Read full review »

This could have been great, it’s ok but the research is really sloppy and many inaccuracies - poor work and lazy. Their other seasons should be questioned if this is how poor the attention to detail is - did no one even do a quick check for this?

The narration is SO good. The dramatization is clean and smooth, the voice acting is phenomenal. Not to mention that both hosts just have mesmerizing voices. The stories are extremely interesting but it’s the writing that takes the cake. Excellent. One of my top 5 favorites. And to head off any...Read full review »

Another good podcast ruined by too many ads. Some ads are needed in some circumstances for sure but this amount ruins any podcast. If you can afford the subscription go for it.

The podcast might be a bit biased towards the MI5 & MI6. Either they are extremely good or their good face is shown here.

I knew a lot about the SOE, the female agents, and Khan before the podcast. I knew what was coming and it still had me on the edge of my seat. And you had me in a flood of tears at the end. I have been listening to this podcast since the beginning but especially liked Season 3 and Noor Khan. Since she had grown up in Paris and spoke the “native” form of French (as opposed to Canadian/Quebec), she could have easily “fit in.” I especially liked her background (a “pacifist” and taught...Read full review »
