“'The Sweetest Plum' is a great comedy Podcast. That's in part because it's very funny (warning: don't listen to it while you're on public transport or in other confined public spaces because you will break into sudden bursts of laughter that will cause strangers around you to shift uncomfortably away from you as they start to question your mental stability).
There is however an extra element that makes this one of the best podcasts in its class and that's the quiet moments where a couple of smart/funny minds sit down and just riff on the ideas and practices that we otherwise all tend to take for granted.
This has always been the great contributions that (good) comedians make to society - they voice truths and doubts about authority and 'normal' societal behavior in ways that are humorous but also sometimes wise and surprisingly subversive. They can make us laugh at ourselves and in doing so, start to seriously question the systems of control that we otherwise passively accept.
Am I giving too much political rhetoric and not enough of a simple podcast review? Yeah probably, but please listen to 'The Sweetest Plum' and other allied Podcasts from comedians such as Wil Anderson, Greg Proops, Dave Anthony and Greg Fleet. They will make you laugh and (maybe) even make you re-think some stuff you thought you already understood. Bonus: They don't cost you a cent - We live in a Golden age of comedy. Let's dive in!

“First listen to the Sweetest Plum had me puzzled. But very soon Nick and Dec grew on me, and became one of my most anticipated podcast deliveries of the week.
PS: Why no cover art? This is pretty much the only podcast I download that has a blank cover spot. It's not hard guys.”Read full review »
