Got into this show from Stratechery plus and devouring Dithering (check them out if not aware). Love John going deep with all kinds of tech, developer, and Apple guests. Keep up the good work.

I used to get annoyed by all the E.U. bashing the host did until I realised that it doesn’t really matter. They’ve received benefits from the E.U.’s meddling i.e. USB-C, and they’ll reap the rewards of their ‘superior’ democratic system in November, when they vote in some coot in who doesn’t know...Read full review »

The host isn't objective and sounds like a walking ad for Apple. He even mentions Apple products the exact way Apple tells him to mention them, leaving out "the" or "an". For example he will say "when I use iPhone" and not "when I use my/an iPhone". I don't...Read full review »

Thank you John for excellent work. Please increase the font size on your site though;)

There’s some good content in here, but Gruber doesn’t do a great job staying on topic. His slightly unhinged ramble in his interview with Niley Patel about how the fallout of 9/11 might have been different had Al Gore been President was just completely unnecessary, and really detracted from the...Read full review »

He called replacement theory antisemitic which is anti white racism. I’m sick of this being accepted in our society. You hate Elon Musk because he dares acknowledge white identity. It’s okay to be white. Done listening to your show, racist.

I checked the RSS feeds. 92% of guest appearances are men. 97% are white. Truly a single appearance from a woman of color, and she was an Apple executive (Lisa Jackson in 2017). He and I emailed about it years ago, he knows it’s an issue, said he wanted to do better, but very-much has not. 😑

Often got good nuggets, but overlong and rambling. Happily chapter marks are included so you can skip to interesting bits

The Elon Musk whinging has ruined this show. The podcast was best when Gruber does what he does best: Carrying Tim Cook’s water.

John is arguably the premier Apple blogger, but his seething hatred towards those who don’t agree with him politically can be felt more and more with each passing year. Additionally, he seems to flip flop and base these opinions on loose/poor info. If he’s going to mess up his show with poorly...Read full review »

John obviously has a lot of friends who make a living using social media sites where they pay nothing or very little to turn around and receive money. So when these companies are shutting those APIs down his friends come on the show to complain. The best example is Craig Hockenberry who uses...Read full review »

There’s only a handful of podcasts I can stomach for more than a few episodes. However, Gruber’s “The Talk Show” is one I never tire of. The casual conversational format, mixed with the informational current events of the tech industry is a blend that keeps me listening and returning. Easily in...Read full review »

The episode with the wonderful Jason Kottke was TERRIBLE. Hardly a question that Jason got to answer, such a waste of time with Dan only talking about himself. You are not an interviewer, Sir, and Jason was VERY patient with you, I wasn’t. Highlight: „let me tell you how I felt about your...Read full review »

Love DF. Have read it since its first year, absolutely love the brevity. Full of content. /// Not sure what happened that Gruber thinks his readers have hours of free time to listen to insufferable tech bros yammer on endlessly. I’ve already got Pivot for that ;-) Heck, even at 1.5x this show...Read full review »

I find The Talk Show to be always worth a listen. Excellent chat. Good banter. The fiery, chaotic yin to Daring Fireball’s well-considered yang.

Just gave up half way through the latest episode. Just a bunch of biased, opinionated political crap.

Gruber should stick to discussing technology and stay out of politics since he appears clueless.

John can talk about himself for 3 hrs. I gave this show a try many times separately but the most recent one with Nilay is the last straw for me. Don’t waste your time with this podcast.

Same 6 or so people show up in more than 80% of the episodes. John shines when he’s engaging with people whom he doesn’t think he knows more than-which is clearly how he feels about the same cast of 6 people. But when he brings on subject matter experts* to talk about something happening he’s...Read full review »

Looking over the reviews don’t shine a bright enough light on the wonderful content The Talk Show delivers. Beats me how Mr Gruber and Co. still cannot manage the timestamps in this show. Start and end points for ads are never precise. What’s up with that?

I used to listen for Gruber’s tech insights, which are good, but tire of the constant political commentary. I like Gruber, but it’s hard to listen to this podcast. He’s arguably the greatest long-lasting Apple commentator, and his blog reflects that when he’s not writing an unhinged rant about how half the voting public are bigots. That ironic bigotry occasionally slips into this podcast, but that’s...Read full review »

I’m not a fan of the new chat show style get a guest on to plug XYZ format. They’re usually so niche that I don’t find the episodes nearly as engaging. Nothing wrong with the odd one to break up the usual regular guests every now and again but every week is a bit much

This is a good show to listen to (especially at night 😅) If you like tech you’ll like this show! Some people complain about ‘to much sports’ and I don't agree, in the whole time I've listened to this podcast, I have barely heard sports. Overall, a great show.Read full review »

Long time ago this show was full on insight and analysis of Apple. It could literally predict the future. Right now it’s John talking to his friends about sports and opinions about this and that. It feels like it’s mostly driven by personal biases than critical understanding.

Occasionally too much sportsball. He’s no relation to Hans. But other than that it’s all good grumpy fun. Thanks!

I don’t subscribe to a tech podcast to hear political talk. In his most recent podcast he disparaged listeners of the Joe Rogan Podcast.

I remember when this podcast was THE podcast to listen to each week or every other week. Today I’ve officially unsubscribed.
