Meandering with too little substance
I like Gruber, but it’s hard to listen to this podcast. He’s arguably the greatest long-lasting Apple commentator, and his blog reflects that when he’s not writing an unhinged rant about how half the voting public are bigots. That ironic bigotry occasionally slips into this podcast, but that’s not why The Talk Show is bad. John fancies himself as Johnny Carson, but he’s more Ed McMahon - a functioning alcoholic with meandering topics, repetitive guests, and no direction, who is constantly giggling at nothing. That being said, he’s got a good nugget of commentary or information every now and then, but the mine is just about dry, and it’s getting harder and harder to dig. As long as the unnecessary and polarizing political diatribes continue, I am staying away from his sponsors.

More reviews of The Talk Show With John Gruber
This should not be called the Talk Show. Oh well. It rambles a bit. Hopefully it gets better.

I'll give it one more episode and then I'm done. First podcast was really terrible. Horrible audio, really boring and unfocused. Seems like the way gruber ended the 5by5 talk show was pretty lame too. Makes me not want to follow him on his site either.Read full review »

It is bland, and uninteresting. It seems John didn't value what Dan did, and thought it was easy, or easily...Read full review »
