“This podcast has my highest recommendation for any person with an interest in history. The podcaster (a mystery man so humble we do not get his name) is a master storyteller. He starts us out at the very beginning, in the central and east asian steppes, when the Turks were just a minor nomadic tribe. We get to hear what the world looked like from the Turk’s perspective (every wonder how many horses/sheep a prosperous Turkish nomadic family might have?) and how the Turks fit into the world around them.
This podcast doesn't skimp. In addition to providing a comprehensive telling of Turkish history it also places that history in context. The podcaster adeptly paints a picture of neighboring empires and cultures with depth so great you get the impression that he could easily publish a podcast on those cultures if given the time.
Simply put, this is a fascinating podcast. Im not aware of any other podcast that focuses on Turkish history in its own right, rather than just a footnote in someone else’s story. Give it a listen, you wont be disappointed.”Read full review »
