“I genuinely think the hosts are funny. That’s a huge plus. However, I also want the information to be accurate. They make a lot of mistakes when reviewing the films. For instance, even little things like mispronouncing Damien Karras’ last name was weird. I’m a horror fan and have never hear it pronounced the way they pronounced it. They pronounced it like kuhross with an emphasis on the second syllable. It might not have been so bad if it was one person, but they all seemed to pronounce it this way. And yes, I know that sounds nerdy, but there were other mistakes and inaccuracies. They also describe one of the scenes in Rosemary’s Baby as touching. It’s the scene where Rosemary gets Guy to try and feel the baby kicking. It’s not meant to be touching. Guy is actually creeped out and it shows on his face because he knows what the baby is. Again, there were other inaccuracies in that review.
Still, I liked the show and will listen to more of the shows. Here are some of the things I like: they are funny. They have some really smart takes on movies, art (finally someone gets that art is not more important than people), and they don’t complain that older movies are too long, like so many other younger hosts do. They also are looking for more than jump scares in a horror movie. That is great to hear. Keep up the good work. I wanted to give them 3.5 stars, but you can’t., so I rounded up.
One last note, gaslighting is when you’re intentionally trying to manipulate someone into thinking they are going insane. It’s not when you simply question what someone saw, doubt what they saw, or some up with what might be a more acceptable, plausible answer. So, the guy in The Strangers is not gaslighting Liv Tyler. Still, I do like the podcast and the newer episodes have been better with the facts of the movies reviewed.”
