I love this podcast! My go-to for my treadmill walks.

I have a very hard time believing some of these stories. These kids leave out a ton of details that they have chosen to do so. I work at a facility like this. These kids are never strip searched, never made to stand for hours and we do not do injections unless they are completely out of...Read full review »

I was really looking forward to listening to this podcast until I actually started it. There are too many ads, so much so that they make up the bulk of the episode!! The episodes don’t actually start until almost 3 MINUTES in. This is a very serious topic, do better.

It’s insane how many ads. I get you can fast forward, but such a waste of time and an annoyance that detracts from story. All of their podcasts are like this. Their advertisers should be upset everyone fast forwards and doesn’t even hear their ads because the amount is ridiculous. You’d think...Read full review »

I cannot believe that in 2023 these type of “schools” still exist and no Government department can take them down. Could it be that they’re also in on it? Just another avenue for child abuse, protected by the Grubberment themselves.
Mezzles21 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/05/23
Can’t do it. I could maybe deal with the adds but I can’t listen to the FRY! Some people think that’s cool and sophisticated. Some of us think it’s REALLY annoying. Safe bet? Just use your normal voice!

I was in a RTC in Utah for almost two years in the late 80s, including some time living off site in “foster” family homes. I still have occasional nightmares. I believe the place I was sent to was considered one of the more reputable ones, yet terrible things happened there, and it still...Read full review »

This is some of the most important journalism needed today. The TTI, Troubled Teen Industry, is a multi billion industry that subjects children to horrific human rights abuses in the name of “therapy”. The profits are lucrative while the regulations and oversight are lacking. And yes there are...Read full review »

I was really looking forward to this podcast after listening to the trailer. However, it is a very short podcast and the ads are way too frequent. I’m wondering how many actual minutes of podcasts there are in an episode. It’s a shame because it’s an important subject.

Interesting stories but the amount of ads made it hard to want to keep listening.

I worked in a Utah RTC for 4 years in the academic program. Many of these stories resignate with me and it's heartbreaking. I knew so little of the things that took place on the business side but this helps it all make sence of how things were done they way they were. It's sickening and...Read full review »

I can't imagine what these kids went through, are STILL going through, and am so grateful for the brave ones who are committed to eradicating this cancer called "treatment". Bravo to all involved in this project!!Read full review »

The stories of survivors are interesting and really eye opening. I would have liked to hear some stories from parents and how the family worked out the trauma after the child came home.

Really interesting topic and content but it’s almost unlistenable with the amount of ads

I was hoping this would dive deeper into what was revealed in Paris Hiltons documentary. The information in the podcast is repeated over and over. Would have done better if each episode was just a new, deeper interview of victims. The ads are long and leave little room for deep dives into what...Read full review »

This is a great podcast about a relatively unknown topic for me in the UK, but the advert placements are so strange it’s quite off-putting. There’s often no break between the podcast content and an advert, which is really jarring and quite confusing in some places - also the ads sometimes repeat...Read full review »

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that that Stanford prison experiment was bunk science. The fact that this podcast used it as a reference made me stop listening. Teen treatment seems to have enough verifiable facts of horror and mistreatment, why would you reference this outdated study?...Read full review »

Thank you for exposing residential treatment schools and their practices! I attended the FL Chamberlain School from ‘03-05. Not nearly as bad as PCS but I definitely have trauma from those years and what I experienced. The aim may be to help children but even in the best of cases of these schools...Read full review »

I’d rate it higher, but the fact that there is no outro when going into an ad is really jarring and sometimes confusing. Please add at least outros to, and maybe welcome backs from, ads. It will make it easier to follow the story.

A new fresh topic that has been traumatizing youth for way to many years and still happens .. Just shows once again that society puts money and greed way above people and mental health .. such a shame ..

Repetitive content, MANY ads, one sided perspective, low quality journalism. It’s a one or two episode show at most. If you fast forward a lot you’ll find won’t miss much.

Some of the ads in my area (CO) are for extreme religious organizations that support conversation therapy and child abuse.

Great podcast. No complaints about the content. The editing, though! 👎🏼 Sentences are repeated, contradictions within an episode, poor flow, at times…. I’m very passionate about the issues with RTCs and was excited to listen to this podcast, but there are simply an unreasonable amount of ads. 3 at the start, some in the middle, some at the end, etc. for 45 minute long episodes? What an interesting topic. Would be wonderful to hear the full, nuanced and compelling stories of people who were trapped in treatment. Unfortunately, they never really get to that. This podcast does a great job talking about all the problems with the troubled teen industry that desperately need to be talked about. My only complaint is there are SO many advertisements; it almost seems like more mins spent on ads than on actual content

The show and the hosts do a fantastic job navigating these waters with such compassion and respect, while still giving us insight into what’s happening behind closed doors at these institutions. The first two episodes were really well done, I’m very intrigued about the rest of the season.

After listening to the first two episodes alone, I was sobbing. My family went through something so similar. This podcast is so well done, I love the investigative aspect to it as well as the sensitivity to material that could be triggering. Seems really respectful and informative, I had NO idea this is what those programs were like.
