Great detailed - but easy to listen to - true crimes. Thank you.

Very well read at a perfect pace. Wonderful, interesting cases, differing from other podcasts as it refers to historical cases between 1880 to 1923.

This podcast is soooo hard to listen too. It’s like it’s a script being read out aloud. Do not recommend

Interesting stories but I find it upsetting that she doesn’t even attempt to pronounce Māori words correctly!

Very well researched and delivered podcast chronicling some of the most horrific and fascinating crimes. This has kept me riveted for weeks, no wonder Netflix shares are down!! Please keep them coming!! I’d love to see some political scandals too. Maybe Russian spies could be topical!

Your voice and delivery makes listening so goood. Have tried listening to other true crime podcasts but they suck just can't seem to take an interest in listening any longer. More more please, thank you!Read full review »

Great podcast I love the story’s. you should do a story on the Olive Grove Holiday Park, in Waianakarua, south of Oamaru. Murder suicide.

Stumbled on this little beaut, and so glad I did! It’s up there with the best. Really well-researched and delivered, even when the topics are hard to discuss, or cover out-of-date ideology from decades/centuries past. Keep up the good work guys, you’re doing a great job, and I hope you get the...Read full review »

Please check your Māori vocabulary pronunciation. Otherwise a good, thorough and interesting podcast.

I do struggle somewhat with the mis pronunciation of English. Very interesting accent. Ref to Mayor to Maya? Affair to Afea. Ahead to Aheard. Newspaper to Noospaper. Quite disconcerting. A little more emphasis with the narration, sounds like reading from a script. This would make the Podcast...Read full review »

Love the podcast so far, as I progress through the seasons they continue to improve on the quality. The content is well researched and thoughtfully presented.

A podcast that is always interesting & is updated on fairly regular basis too. Good website to accompany the episodes too. No frills. I like the longish pauses during the delivery also- it gives you a moment to digest or ponder.. Instead of mass info forced at you. Nice work

The latest episode (Shayne Simes) is a disappointing turn for this show. The dramatizations were unnecessary and the beeping out of the addresses are annoying. If you don’t want to use the information, just leave it out.

I appreciate all the effort that has gone into these stories and the respect shown for the people involve. Although your voice is somewhat irritating for me with what seems like exaggerated and forced roll of the ‘R’. I noticed it wasn’t consistent at all and it was quite uncomfortable to listen...Read full review »

‘The morning of the dawn of’, ‘fatally killed’, mispronouncing ‘heron’ and ‘anarchist’… not to mention the tee-hee blooper reel at the end of the Aramoana Massacre ep. Maybe try to do better and reconsider the taste level.

Stumbled across your podcast more or less by accident but I am so glad I did! Well told cases with respectful handling of the facts of the fates of the victims. And, honestly as a Swede with vivid memories of the Swedish couple missing (and later found murdered) in NZ I am so glad to see a...Read full review »

I have listened from the beginning. I loved learning about NZ history through their legal system... stories were fascinating and informative. Then hosts took a break... and as I look at the newer stories, I notice how short they’ve become. I prefer at least 45 minutes- dig deep into The Who,...Read full review »

I went through all of your content from start to finish over a month or two. Great effort for two people who make this in their spare time. I appreciate the amount of research you put into these episodes. Keep up the great work!

Really like the thoroughness and variety of cases. I’d prefer the episodes to be longer rather than in multiple parts. Keep improving and I’ll keep listening and recommending;-)

Just wanted to say how well I think you’ve made these podcasts. They’re very touchy subjects but I think it’s hugely important that we don’t forget our past. Good or bad

Pronunciation of Maori words is just terrible.
PoorBoysDream via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 12/09/20
Good stories and well researched but I found the latest episode really annoying as the narrator kept saying the word for house/home crib. Does all of NZ live in some sort of gangsta neighbourhood and live in cribs, even the old people? It just sounded so wrong and I found it extremely irritating.
Bonnies Book Talk via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 11/22/20
Interesting accents going on and a few mispronounced Māori words slip on in there (along with one “oops” moment that was not edited out of the recording, when the narrator complained about all the Māori names) BUT what a cool concept and well done, team, on the delivery of a fascinating look into...Read full review »

Good content but pronunciation of some Māori place names, that have historically been mispronounced, ring harsh to a Māori ear. Well done on the Māori words that were pronounced beautifully and effortlessly, like ‘Māori’ and the word ‘Paimārire’ which can be challenging for the novice reo speaker.

Only listened to one episode. Turned off when the voiceover got a date of birth wrong by a century. Not very professional.

Really enjoying these, it’s the first podcast series I’ve listened to and I’m hooked. Love hearing about the NZ history and finding out more details about some of the well know cases. I look forward to listening to more as they come out.

I feel really rude saying this but the narrators voice just isn’t nice on the ears to listen to, at all. I got 1 min in an had to stop 😬

Perhaps I’m too old but the butchering of the English language is too difficult to listen to. Good luck.
2Old! via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 07/03/20
Great stories but the narration and re-enactments are so dry and wooden. I’ve only listened to the first two so far. I hope the narration style improves because it’s so hard to concentrate on the stories with this style.

Love this podcast. Now and then the legal terms/facts aren’t quite right (I only know because that’s my field) but only minor details that don’t effect the overall story. Super interesting, well researched. I’ve just converted my friend and we both listened to all the episodes on our road trip....Read full review »

Thanks for the great podcast, guys. Haters gonna hate, lovers gonna love and i love your work. Thanks for the great research, genuinely interesting, seldom publicized facts and your respect for the victims and our amazing culture, please keep them coming!

The first few episodes, as with many podcasts, were a bit rough around the edges. However, the hosts seem to be getting their footing and each episode gets better! Thanks for providing content in a way that is respectful and informative.

You guys do an awesome job! Heaps of interesting facts I’d never heard before. Sad that people feel the need to comment on your accents... Keep up the good work!

I’m really enjoying this podcast. Dark and close to home. I’m even getting used to the South Island accent. But I have to say, you have the weirdest pronunciation of the word “fellow”. It’s fell-low, not fi-lo. You make it sound like filo pastry.
Mort Belfry via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 05/04/20
Really enjoying this podcast, I have listened to 9 episodes plus the extras to this point and am reallsy enjoying the series.

I’m learning so much about NZ’s history from your podcast. You must put a lot of time in to research. Regarding the criticisms of your R sound or accent, not much you can do to change people’s opinions. That’s how you talk. My view is, it doesn’t bother me, I’m happy that someone is doing a NZ...Read full review »
