A podcast for international understanding
I’ve followed this podcast for years now, from the very first beginnings as I was already a big fan of Kirsty Rice’s blog ‘4 kids, 20 suitcases and a beagle’. Since I missed hearing my own Aussie friend’s voice so much after she returned to Melbourne, I was hooked from the get go. But not only Kirsty’s and at the time Sarah’s, later also Nikki’s voices draw me in, they literally went and talked about everything life as an expat and repat have to offer: the good, the bad, and the ugly, and they and their personal lives are so much like their listeners’, and to listen to them is a bit of a refuge, during one of the many pick up drives, waits, doing housework or walking dogs, planning our days. They are smart, fun and thoughtful, and come across as very strong women, and of course one of our international school sports trips took me and Nikki to the same NECIS tournament so I got to meet her in person, so I know they’re REAL, which is something you find out easily enough when you listen to them talking. You’re not just listening, you and other listeners get the chance to be part of the conversation, either through interviews, online comments and with their Facebook live sessions. Their Facebook group is the most important resource for those needing information on how to expat/repatriate in all of its forms, and the community is an amazing hive of knowledge and experience.
