At the police conference, officers appealed for information about the death of 21 year old Richard Holmes. They told how Richard was shot and killed in Greenham Crescent in the Chingford Hall estate as he defended a 16-year-old boy against a group of men. He was found dead in the early hours of the morning. It was 11.57pm  when the emergency services were called to a house fire in Woking, Surrey. The call was made by a panicking and distressed Alan Jermey.
