Very uneven seasons
I wish there was a way to rate the different seasons separately. They are VASTLY uneven in quality. So this review is for the current season about Martensville. It's terrible. From the ridiculous - the local reporter pretending someone who worked for a Saskatoon newspaper wouldn't know where Mville was, to the bizarre - that it's hurricane country. What?? That's…just not true. Apart from that, the narrative is very poorly structured. The story doesn't build. It's just "this was a terrible thing!!" It doesn't land key interviews. It doesn't investigate if there was *any* veracity to the claims such as Travis Sterling having a previous complaint for abuse unrelated to satanic panic. It doesn't paint an image of the Sterlings at all. They were…not pristine figures. And why were police hanging around their house? That seems inappropriate. If you look at a good example of this - Capturing the Friedmans - there is a much better presentation of how hysteria grew. And did expose that the father had some pedophilic tendencies, even though the adult sons were 100% innocent. And the series paints an inaccurate portrait of Mville - it wasn't some innocent small town place. At that time, it was an ugly little town full of ignorance and bigotry. And massive corruption. The previous town administrator was dealing drugs. The previous police chief was sexually abusing a 14 year old intellectually disabled girl. Mville had long lost any innocence it ever had. It's a shame - I was really looking forward to this one. And I do believe there was a lot of mass hysteria resulting in innocent people being charged with terrible crimes. However, this is a poorly told story and has no nuance or investigative heft.Read full review »

I cannot believe tax payers’ money is going towards covering this pity childish game that a few rich kids could not keep playing peacefully! They’ve basically dragged their high school drama into adulthood. Only taking it to a criminal level now. Grow up! Who signs off on these projects I wonder?

Good production, hard work and talent shines thru here. Similar to tv Scientology expose on—- another example of the truth is stranger than fiction!
