Such an interesting story
I blazed through these episodes in one evening because the story is so fascinating. I guess people who have a strong need for social acceptance are particularly susceptible to this kind of manipulation. I appreciate the length of the series. It's not long and drawn out over several weeks. I had a serious 'Aha' moment listening to this. A few months ago, I met a woman at a coffee shop who seemed nice, but strangely concerned with my dreams and wondered if I was 'living up to my full potential'. She asked to meet me again to talk about my life goals because she called herself a life coach. I agreed. But on the day of the meeting, I decided to cancel because I got the idea that she was on some multilevel marketing BS. I had never experienced a person so ANGRY to have a stranger cancel a meeting with them. She was literally berating me on the phone telling me I don't 'deserve' to meet her if I'm not serious about my life goals. Mind you..she knows nothing about me or my goals. She claimed she had arranged for several mentors to meet me and since I canceled, she never wanted to speak to me again. I confusingly told her 'that's fine' and we haven't talked since. After hearing this podcast, I'm sure she would have tried to recruit me into some bizarre MLM scheme like this. We're living in such a weird time where people consider themselves entrepreneurs because they sell motivation and an endless well of ways we are never enough. It's so manipulative.Read full review »

This is a deep dive into a murky story that's currently playing out in the courts right now, really interesting to get the finer detail of who / what NXIVM (pronounced 'Nexium') as an organization is and especially excited to hear more about their leader Raniere. Why would anyone...Read full review »
