Good for broad strokes
I recognize this is the guys first attempt but there are a few things that I really disliked about this podcast despite being fairly good quality. Firstly, the guy deals in broad strokes, which is good for people that don't know much about the cases, but some of the details are either overstated or just incorrect. There isn't much here for people familiar with the cases and I occasionally found it frustrating to listen to at times because I felt like he emphasized things that a less seasoned person only would emphasized or missed a lot of info that would change how he told the stories. I also found it s little melodramatic at times. The stories are dramatic enough, but adding in detail about actions that he has to suppose instead of just giving us fact is very off putting. The pace can be difficult to deal with and the guys voice isn't silky smooth and can be a little tough to handle Okay for the good: he is covering lesser known cases and he gives enough details to send even the least curious down the rabbit hole. Sound design is pretty well done and often only noticed when they are poor, but here I noticed because they were quite good. I can easily see that with experience this can become a quality podcast but as of right now I feel like it doesn't offer much beyond the fact that he covers podcasts others have not.Read full review »
