Who killed the video star
Love this podcast! Some new stories you haven’t heard about MTV. As a 10 year old in northern NJ when MTV launched. I remember the first video I saw at a friend’s house Abracadabra by Steve Miller Band. I was 12 when we got MTV. I totally agree with the fact that MTV was something teens could connect with from the very beginning. It was exciting and face paced, never boring. My 14th birthday I had a large boy/girl party and my parents rented the making of Thriller (back then videos like this required a security deposit of a few hundred dollars). All the kids at my party (myself included) were entranced by the making of Thriller! It was 1984 and we just couldn’t get enough MTV. It was always on at everyone’s house. It defined Generation X. I can’t wait to hear episode 3 of this podcast!! It’s fantastically awesome!!! Joanne from MA

There’s a kind of Baby Boomer golden glow of nostalgic thinking about this show, but it was 100% worth the listen. I didn’t connect as much with a couple of the middle episodes (just like I didn’t connect as much with MTV in that era), but I’m glad I listened to the end, which was a great wrap up.

Dave’a ability to remember so much detail and the way he presents it is pretty amazing. Highly recommend this podcast for those who want to learn about MTV back in the day or take a trip down memory lane.
