“It’s odd that this pod has absolutely no examination of privilege, and the association between wealth and denial of mental health problems, something must always be “to blame”.
Meditating while hitchhiking or being unsafe while traveling abroad is something rich kids who aren’t aware of consequences do, all the time, not just because of a retreat. It’s particularly difficult using two genetically identical people to imply that a system must be bad. Finding Hollywood-derived “past lives” to be traumatized about is an odd one that again would have benefited from some reflection on immense privilege. That all said I feel for the girls and their families, but there is simply a lot more going on there.
Some people just be sick, and the early 20s is when psychosis onsets in most individuals which doesn’t make them “free of mental health problems” and ultimately I think this approach risks stigmatizing psychosis rather than accepting. Still an interesting listen even if I didn’t agree, and the lack of help given regardless of the source of distress at retreats is a genuinely concerning thing and it’s good light is being shed on that aspect.”
