“I've been looking for podcasts similar to Serial's season 1, and this is among few that have compelled me to listen to the whole thing. The host takes care to avoid speculation and victim blaming, which many other podcasts freely engage in doing. On the technical side, the show is well-produced, the host has a narrating voice that is easy on the ears, and his interviews are easy to understand for the most part. My one criticism is nitpicky, but I was put off by his friend's narration in some brief points of the show—he sounds overly creepy and dramatic, like the intro to Law & Order: SVU. Minor criticism though, and of course won't stop me from listening to the podcast.
I realize the host is a filmmaker, but I'd love to hear more podcasts from him. The format of following a single case of a disappearance and doing on-the-ground detective work is what makes this so great. Plus it contributes in a more tangible way than other shows that take the single-episode review of a case for the sake of entertainment. He's actively trying to solve this and help facilitate some justice.”Read full review »
