“Entirely unsure what the point of this podcast was. It didn’t uncover anything, or teach us anything new about prison reform or the parole system. This is not the criminal case to underscore the issues and problems facing prisoners. He’s a confessed murderer from a stable, two-parent family with a famous author for a father (the podcast host is a huge fan of his, a problem in itself) who managed to marry two women in prison. There’s really nothing or no one to blame but himself (although both he and the host give it several shots that lack credibility). The victim’s family is mostly dismissed and made to look bad for wanting him kept in prison. Their refusal to participate makes everything all the more one-sided. I had such high hopes but by the final episode I didn’t care at all, didn’t like the main character or his dad, and felt let down by all of it.”
