“'What Matters' is an incredibly well put together podcast, so much so that it feels like the show has been honed and tweaked over ten years rather than ten episodes; but then again, if you've ever listened to an Alex Reads Podcast you will know he's no amateur to this podcasting game and that experience really shows.
As a host, Alex really helps to bring a certain sense of gravity to each situation the guest presents by offering a refreshing amount of sensitivity. This has unexpectdly allowed me to reflect on aspects of each topic, even when I went into the episode thinking it would be unrelateable.
As such, I regularly end the podcast with different insights than the ones I came in with and I'd like to think this has helped me deal with people and situations in my personal life. (I guess it lives up to the self-help title even if you're not looking to help yourself.)
Additionally, the guests so far have been excellent and in an age where Social Media mobs rule the roost, unproblematic so I listen to these podcasts with a clean conscience.
