…chatter-chatter with the ladies who stress about the climate & ‘popularism’. This is the pod where elitist college educated ladies are allowed too much time around the mic without proper supervision; always so angry and aggressive; always making sweeping statements around ‘climate science’...Read full review »

I’m not interested in listening to NS main podcast feed but I came to World Review for journalism I wouldn’t get elsewhere in English

What a terrible decision to discontinue this podcast. One of the very best, and the only one to focus on foreign affairs Bring it back, soonest

I enjoy this podcast immensely. Its guests and topics are timely, and its analysis always probes beneath the surface. Much better than your run-of-the-mill news show. But here’s a question: the distinguished Noam Chomsky was a guest, and you felt the need to contextualize his interview with a...Read full review »

Always enjoy this thoughtful and thought provoking podcast. Great insight and variety. The best podcast for current and reflective world reporting. Love the intro music too.

I really like the podcast, well considered and researched, it’s such a shame that one of the hosts (Ido Vock) is so difficult to listen to, he often sounds half asleep, and like he’s lost the will - certainly to podcast. I tend to forward through his sections as his demeanour is too distracting...Read full review »

Always an excellent mix of information and analysis of world issues.

Fantastic show. Excellent coverage of news from parts of the world we don’t always hear enough about. Really enjoyed France Elects series last year - so informative

So important to hear such wise, long-term thinking from an experienced democratic leader in the region.

Highly informative podcast, with interesting perspectives on world events.

Stars for Emily, Katie, Jeremy and others. Minus one star for Kevin the Teenager and his long, rambling, half-hearted answers. The podcast equivalent of “a face for radio”.

Foreign news coverage is excellent, domestic American news coverage is is heavily biased for the left.

Like all current affairs podcasts, it must be a helluva scramble just to get together presenters, contributors, research a subject, and then record something coherent. Add the ever-present possibility that events can immediately consign the show to the dustbin of irrelevance. That said, if an...Read full review »

I learn so much from these podcasts which are consistently well presented with excellent guests who are always well qualified to comment on the topics being covered. This high standard production is consistent with the work of the New Statesman. Definitely worth a listen.

This might be a good podcast, but Emily’s sound quality is so poor that it’s hard to follow. It’s unbelievable that she can’t use a better microphone

Really great insights into the major events in global affairs. The mix of hosts works really well too, as they all have different specialisms and bring their individual expertise to the big stories of the week. Really strong interviews as well.

One of my favourite podcasts! Emily and Jeremy give you a more international view of global politics. The show has grown in strength as it progressed and their coverage of the Ukraine war has been excellent, some great guests too!
Rip Shields via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 07/25/22
I very much appreciate the opportunity to hear from and about world issues which I would have often missed. The presenters are very knowledgeable and engaging and the guest interviewees are also close to the issues discussed. Highly recommended.

The show has become my favorite – the hosts are informative (and very fun to listen to). The interviews are great, and the weekly discussions on major events are interesting and insightful. And the “You Ask Us” segment is great! The “Elects” series on Germany and France have been particularly...Read full review »

Love the podcast and especially France Elects for its well thought out English-speaking coverage of the French election, the best I have come across.

Started getting these to follow the German elections, but never learnt anything from them that I hadn’t already picked up elsewhere. Now I’m cancelling my subscription amid the war in Ukraine. This show used to be interesting, but following an editorial change the show now seems to largely focus on the USA. The rest of the world looks on while anything that happens in the US gets discussed in forensic detail no matter how little it affects the rest of the world.

I call that an informercial, or PR puff piece. How much did these guys give you off the ticket price for "new look" web and print in order to so heavily spray their HR policies all over your journalism. <cringe> I've done 5 stars may times for NS... This one one star is just to...Read full review »

Great to have an insightful world affairs podcast, covering parts of the world that don't often get much focus. However, there are a few frustrations. Emily’s analysis is often quite predictable, as well as being very America-centric - perhaps understandable given her background, but given...Read full review »

There are clear sounds of the hosts or one of them eating and drinking while a guest is speaking. It is annoying for listeners to say the least. If you are doing a podcast might as well do it with respect to the listeners.

really good podcast from NS. Informative but accessible. The hosts and guests are very good. Would firmly recommend for finding out about world affairs from centre left perspective
Jediknightkevin via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/12/20
This is a really interesting and incisive take on the major issues in world affairs; it manages to be concise but expansive, detailed without being overwrought. Emily and Jeremy are great hosts whose questions lead to fascinating discussion with a range of equally fascinating guests. I’m hooked.
edoardofortese via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/12/20
A great podcast alongside the NS itself. Jeremy (where’s he been recently?), Emily and guests have the time and space to cover issues properly. It has been very America-centered recently due to the election, hopefully it will go back to world coverage again.

World Review has established itself surprisingly quickly and has a format that works well with skilful use of strong guests.
