Wish I’d discovered this podcast sooner. It’s so insightful and well put together. So many unexpected and intriguing revelation.

Very interesting and informative, covering a different topic each episode, which leaves you with a lot to think about, and a want to learn more on the issue. Even while discussing heavy topics, they’re presented in a simplified easy to digest, no -boring way.

David McRaney’s podcast has led me to read many books (including his) and introduced me to one of my passions (trying to learn how to listen to and learn from those who disagree with me—Braver Angels). I used to mainly read historical fiction—now I just can’t get enough social psychology and...Read full review »

Great podcast but I wish there wouldn’t be a political slant with it.

This podcast presents in a way that causes me to stop, think… sometimes reframe. I always appreciate it.

Super interesting and insightful.

This podcast likes to make claims on how the way other people think (pick your group) is wrong and that they don’t do research in an unbiased matter, while then spewing out opinions that are not proven or backed by facts or studies. Even some of the joke fringe groups they go after are more...Read full review »

Much of my understanding of identity, belief, critical thinking, and all around what it is to be a good, contemplative human being has been deeply influenced by this podcast. I find myself recommending it a /lot/

I don’t usually leave reviews but for this podcast, I really have to. I’ve only got to episode 20 right now so I may need to adjust my review in the future as I binge more episodes, but for now, here goes: This is an excellent podcast. Really excellent. It’s very informative, well researched and...Read full review »

David, I cannot begin to count the number of books I have purchased because of listening to your podcast. You bring so many interesting guests and points of view, and you feed my desire for learning. I even appreciate the rebroadcasts as they recall ideas that I can then consider with new eyes...Read full review »

I don’t leave reviews, it’s just not something I do. But Episode 256: The Persuaders was so fantastic I had to make an exception. I always find YANSS’ topics to be excellent, but the guest on this episode, Anand Giridharadas, was so compelling and really explains the big problem with today’s...Read full review »

No other podcast has kept me so fascinated over such a long period of time as this one. And nothing else has so influenced my thinking about inter-personal communication. David seems to have an endless list of interesting speakers. Congratulations David! Nigel

The show is interesting when the host sticks to his knowledge base. There is a strong undercurrent of contempt, bordering on hatred, of everything and anything conservative thinly veiled by intellectual jargon and moral grandstanding.

This is my favorite podcast. The topics and conversations are always interesting and enlightening.

I have been listening to this podcast for years after listening to the book YANSS, which literally changed my life in a drastic way. It’s the only podcast that year after year continues to keep me engaged and excited for new episodes. Thanks for making it David!

I’ve seen a lot of recently negative reviews, so I just wanted to say, the oldest episodes are from 2012/2013. It’s a great way to connect back to the world 10 years ago and the host is the most genuine enthusiastic person ever, which is just awesome! Also just gonna say #leftisbest

So many of these podcasts have led me to life-changing books, including McRaney’s own recent one. And each time his enthusiasm is matched by that of the interviewees, so you feel like you’re brought along on this journey of joyful learning.

I love that David does a great job at manufacturing Aha moments. I love looking backward at a topic to see that I completely failed to acknowledge that there was an alternative to the way I was thinking. I am also rejuvenated by David’s sense of empathy. This comes up strongly in the episodes on...Read full review »

This is a great podcast that deals with issues as how you get to at least recognize your bias (in other words, how you get to fool yourselves). The initial programs had some issues with sound quality, which got getter along time.

When it came out, this was one of my top 3 podcasts. Somewhere along the line, somethimg happened. More guests using the "this is what I think" style with little data. Lots of obvious material (maybe, I'm getting smarter, but don't think so). There's some politics and...Read full review »

Love the discussions and guests! The one down side? The music 😩 Clear winner of the award for Most Annoying And Unnecessarily Long Intro And Interlude Music. But the content is great so I keep coming back, just with my finger never far from that fast forward button.

Really like this podcast. It has introduced me to do many mind opening topics. I especially love the episode “how to talk to people about things”. Why would we need to convince individuals of this. Disregarding very valid reason for a person not getting a vaccine. You should have kept this as a vague changing people’s mind podcast. More trash along political lines. When you say it’s fact be science regarding masks and vaccines that is not 100% accurate. Tag line “You are not so Smart” brought me in as we all need to listen and have more empathy and reasoning.
