I’ve been listening to Karina since 2015; she is phenomenal! I enjoy her modern feminist perspective, sense of humor, and impeccable research. She covers so much! My favorite series are her 12-part deep dive into the Manson Family and their connection with Hollywood, Erotic 80’s, Dead Blondes,...Read full review »

it’s a shame that i have the same complaint as everyone else. i had to stop listening, against my will, because the delivery is completely insufferable.

There are plenty of great reviews of this pod for many years now and deservedly so. However, many if not most of those reviews include mention of Ms. Longworth’s voice in the delivery of her stories. I honestly cannot believe she is unaware of this and just stubbornly refuses to remedy the issue...Read full review »

So glad I’m not alone. The verdict is in: Karina Longworth’s voice work is terrible. It’s a shame because it really is a good podcast - well researched, informative, perfect for film buffs. Congratulations to Longworth for writing and producing. Absolutely no thanks for the narration. How did...Read full review »

Absolutely love this podcast, well researched and beautifully delivered. Will not find a better podcast on this topic

This podcast is impeccably researched and Karina is a delight. I have been listening for years and am never disappointed.

I really tried, but the host over-enunciates like crazy. And she hits the Ts like they insulted her family. I just can’t. I really wanted to like this podcast. Please learn how to speak normally

I adore this podcast; Karina really does her research and cares about her seasons. I always learn about a new (old) film that I need to see! Just the best for anyone interested in films and the stories behind them.

The research and writing are great, and the subject matter is interesting. Every year or so, I try again. But I just can’t stand the host’s delivery — it is just grating to me.

I wanted to love this podcast, because it’s very interesting and well researched, but the way the narrator enunciates words is incredibly irritating and distracting. Seriously, who speaks like that? If you lack public speaking skills, just use an AI voice to narrate your show.

from the vocal fry to the fake pronunciation of T’s to the overtly unbearable millennial speech. hard to listen to what is being said.

I’m sure the beautiful Miss Novak struggled a great deal. But to hear this person talk about her “character’s struggles” is friggin ridicules. Her “characters “ aren’t her. Hopkins “struggled” with Hannibal?

The podcast is well-researched and interesting, but Longworth can be a bit sanctimonious, and the over-enunciation is a bit much

I would be willing to bet I have learned more from YMRT than I did during my four years of college film studies. Longworth’s contribution to film history cannot be overstated. Now more than ever we need to revisit the often biased reporting of the past, as well as recontextualize films through...Read full review »

Great research, very interesting podcast about the early history of Hollywood. The host. Speaks. In a… very. Stilted. Way. I don’t know if she was told in a public speaking to class to speak slowly and took that too literally, but she sounds like she’s trying very, very hard to be understood....Read full review »

Just love this podcast - so many stories I never knew about or had heard a few things…. Clint Eastwood/Sondra Locke - how unfair - what a nasty piece of work he is… In-depth information Fabulous storytelling Well done!

I miss this podcast so much. I have listened to each episode multiple times as the content & voice is amazing. The commercials are worse and more frequent than any other podcast I’ve listened to. It makes it really hard to enjoy the depth of the research when there’s 3 minutes of commercials for every 5 minutes of content.

Absolutely fascinating. The atmosphere, narration, research, and deep empathy combine to make possibly one of the most candid collections of information on Hollywood to date.

I like to listen to podcasts to relax, sometimes to listen to as I fall asleep. Karina Longsworth voice is soothing. This is a good podcast, the content is high caliber. But what’s with the over pronunciation on the ends of words? The pronunciations of the Ds and Ts and the “sounds” at the end of almost every sentence is infuriating. I LOVED this podcast early one and it’s been sad to see it become so sententious. Do we need to be told for the ten thousandth time that some men treated women poorly in Hollywood? lol.

If you love movies and Hollywood, this is the podcast for you. As a member of Generation Jones I’m old enough that I grew up in a time when silent films and early talkies and black-and-white movies from Hollywood’s golden age were used as filler for TV programming.
