Sorry Chris Smith but you aren’t a patch on Rhod Sharp and the whole show misses Dr Karl like the third wheel on a Reliant Robin! It pains me to say it but I find the now desert dry presentation and it’s more brassy / bright sonic tone so off putting. The lovely late night homeliness of Rhod...Read full review »

I generally like the host but he does sometimes put his own knowledge/understanding above that of the expert. Really just showing off. But my blood boiled when he asked Prof Julie Williams what she has been doing “after dabbling” in politics as Chief Scientist Advisor for the Welsh government....Read full review »

I used to listen avidly to the BBC Science Podcast. But since they stopped working with Dr. Karl I stopped listening and started listening to Dr. Karl’s Tripple J Science Podcast from Australia

The interview with Dr. Fauci is especially good, very objective, well done.
yoga.aha via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/29/23
The framing and glad-handling of the Fauci interview was inexcusable. Ask the man why he ROUTINELY made up “facts”, switched his positions on masking and vaccination based on public perception, and just generally lied and misrepresented knowledge throughout the pandemic. I unsubscribed from this...Read full review »

Love the show. Please do keep up the great work. Perhaps take a look at the latest episode of 20th February, it seems to be a jumble of a new and old episode.

Long gone are the days when I would jump on this podcast the moment it was released. The old presenters brought character and humour to the podcast and made it an easy fun listen. I would pick up and retain so much information. Now it’s very earnest. Lots on the current pandemic (of course) and...Read full review »

Three pin plug, come on Chris, you are supposed to be a scientist, get your house fitted with a 7 kw car charger and charge at 5p per kwh overnight. Microphone of moderator needs to be adjusted. The voice pitch is piercing and incomprehensible to this native English speaker.

Rubbish science!!!! This scientism. Real science is the natural science.

This is my go-to science podcast for everything up-to-date and accurate. Presented in an engaging and accessible way, I wholeheartedly recommend this podcast to anyone interested in the world around them. Which should be everybody!

Used to enjoy it more. We need the Dr Karl segments back. The other episodes are very good too, just that Dr K is very fun to listen to.

This programme has recently lost its soul and humour now Dr Karl & Rhod Sharp are no longer presenting, Dr Chris Smith is knowledgable and informative but he comes over as a bit of a humourless ‘know it all’. One of the best bio-science podcast/radio programs. There is enough time to explore a subject without the editing that normally leaves only the headline points. It’s good to have time to hear the details without it feeling rushed.

Used to really enjoy this show. Listened to the one before Christmas 2019, the fat vs sugar show, and it was so wrong that for me it calls in to question a lot of the other things given as facts on this show. As someone who has nearly completely reversed my high blood pressure (now medication...Read full review »

Been listening to Dr Karl & Dr Rhod on BBC radio 5 live since early 2000 whilst still in Scotland. I enjoy the eclectic approach of the podcast, but, since the introduction of the advertising notice it stops 4 seconds before the end. It does not flow to the next podcast.

I really enjoy the full 5 Live show podcasts with Dr Chris. He's an excellent interviewer and great at summarising difficult topics and the full show is really well put together. Fantastic podcast and one of my most anticipated regular downloads of the week. Only criticism is that the episode title is not always reflective of content. Eg. Episodes titled "Dr. Karl: ..." are sometimes regular 5 science episodes that do not feature Dr. Karl at all.Read full review »

I always enjoy listening to Dr Karl and his enthusiastic delivery, but i found the shows presenters a bit of a challenge to enjoy, especially during the phone in portions. The show is well produces but i feel that it could do with a bit of editing when presented as a podcast.
londo43 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/02/14
The moderator thinks that he is so funny, but he should keep most of the jokes to himself. The explanations by the experts are very interesting, but he keeps making stupid comments. It is ok to make a joke a two, three or may be four times during a program, but he must be doing like ten or more.
Paul Keres via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/22/14
My choice of title might be a bit on the harsh side but listening to this Dr. Karl bloke spin a science angle on sporting prowess which he was clearly making up as he went along was cringe worthy.
