“When your in your mid 40’s and someone literally “makes” you read this through compassion it’s nothing short of a personal epiphany. For one I feel normal despite the world always feeling like it was going against me. Society would paint me as the model citizen - 2.4 children, financially successful a 25 yr career in big tech from Silicon Valley giants to the heady world of venture capital from engineer to CEO YET as a younger version I was called a maverick, disruptive perhaps uncontrollable. I clash with the “money farmer” found in big tech as I’ve always driven with purpose. I hated school as it was overwhelming yet with amazing parents got through and out the other side of university. Yet I always saw the world differently naturally making those connections that I couldn’t not fathom why others did not see. I always felt at home in the Valley as I was with my type of people, back in the U.K. it’s stifled by rules and systems and still is.
I urge everyone to listen and at least appreciate the amazing tribe who are told they are on the spectrum as they are the people who drive the human race forwards with compassion and meaning - take the time to understand them as amazing things happen when we truly embrace real diversity and stop putting everything into a category and box.
Nothing to lose and everything to gain.”
