I am a huge history nerd and this podcast was a life saver when I was working king desk hours and got tired of music (thankfully I was allowed to put my headphones in since I wasn’t interacting with the public). This podcast was something new and exciting for me and they way they tell the stories...Read full review »

They do a lot of yammering without actually saying anything about ancient history. The fact that they think Project 2025 is a thing, thing being on a literal imbecile to pleasure themselves with over this, was hilarious. They’re more conspiratorial than Alex Jones.

I like hearing unique insights, stories, and voices to learn about history. History shows choice in response to fundamental human loves and fears. I’m so proud of them for their current discussion of the 2025 manifesto. The hosts provide excellent and open research, with courage, honesty, and...Read full review »

Thank you so much for discussing project 2025 I feel like not enough people know about how terrible and threatening it is to freedom and true democracy. Thank you for using your platform for this ❤️‍🩹

I love the awesome combination of banter and history. The references are so good(daddy shark). The podcast covers so much((((::::

Stopped listening when they used “toxic masculinity” to describe one of the greatest leaders in human history. Real creative.

Addicted to Ancient History, had to see it myself! Thanks for another POV not included in US Uni Ed. 🙂

Absolutely love this podcast and the ladies who host it, but please refer to the land of Palestine as Palestine, just as the ancient people would have.

An awesome, irrelevant look at ancient history! Thank you for this enjoyable podcast.

Seriously, I can’t pick one. I love the long story arcs, I love the random deep dives, I love the spicy cold opens… everything!!

I JUST discovered this podcast. I can’t remember how, probably via one of my many others. This one is ADDICTIVE and fun & it kicked off my perennial obsession with Pompeii & Vesuvius and introduced me to the wonderful Eloise Harper’s novels set there. I cannot WAIT until the tackle the...Read full review »

A history podcast by a pair of non-historians - it’s fun and light, even when tackling some ugly subjects.

This podcast is great, and informative. I love their interesting progressive new take on the ancient world! My only complaint is that the jokes occasionally fall flat and it can occasionally ruin the story as they seem to tend to forget that it is a history podcast and not about random topics

Love love love this podcast! I’m flying through the episodes. I can’t get enough. The hosts are the best! To not listen is a mistake. A refreshing review of history from women for women and men ;)

This podcast gives a wonderful detailed and often times humorous way of looking at historical events. Each episode is well written, well researched and wonderful delivered. I actually love this podcast, discovered it a few weeks ago and I swear I listen to an episode at least a day now while I’m doing things! Update: it’s been like 2 years I am still in love with these lasses. So funny, the best time, still on constant rotation in my podcast line up!!

Ancient History Fangirl is one of my Top 3 favorite podcasts! I’ve been listening to this podcast for three or so years and I look forward to every new episode. I’ve learned so much about the ancient world through these two amazing podcasters. I love the human lens they bring to the subject...Read full review »

Who would have thought that there were refugees from Pompeii? This podcast is refreshingly informative. Love their take and the banter as well. Also, if you find a section unsuited to your tastes, fast forward. 😂

I appreciate that these two know their subject but it is unusual for me to stop listening to a podcast but I could not listen to their child-like comments and the fact that they think they are funny any longer. If only they stuck to the history.

Interesting subject matter but terrible presentation. I don’t need to hear ten times that you are a Manhattan copywriter or that you don’t have a Hugo nomination whatever that is. The hosts devolve into crude comments befitting of a seventh grader. Cut out the awkward attempted and just cover...Read full review »

A friend recommended this podcast to me and even though I already have 30-40 podcasts in rotation, I picked this one up. Jen and Jenny are funny and are honest with history. Even with darker subjects, they keep that bit of humour that keeps it from being depressing. They’re able to keep me hooked on subjects I’m not passionate about, such as Julius Caesar and Cleopatra.

Thank you Genn and Jenny - you do a wonderful job of bringing ancient history to life in a way that’s approachable and funny. You are very appreciated!

Initially found the first season quite interesting, with a wide array of subjects. As the show went on however, the commentary and humor kept clashing with the history and led to my removal of the podcast from my rotation. they’re awesome i would listen to the talk about any history for hours. their presentation, banter, and analysis is so satisfying. i didn’t realize how good this podcast was until i tried listening to some other history podcasts. as the old adage goes you don’t know what you have til it’s gone..

I started listening to Genn and Jenny’s drunk myths with Liv from Myths, Baby and started listening to AHFG not long after. Overzealous bimbos without any degree or education on their topics that they didn’t Google off an actual professional who already has a podcast that most likely doesn’t include blasphemy. I bet your both ugly and salty with God about it :) Google Image anyone?

Wow! I love this show so much! It has had me laughing out loud and also weeping (for days! The Sacred Band!). Genn and Jenny pull you into their conversation and it feels like you are having the most fascinating chat with friends. I am completely addicted and listening in is such a treat.

This podcast got me hooked on ancient history so bad and now I can’t shut up about Agripina, Cesar, war elephants and sexuality in the ancient world. And it’s like having a chat with your friends while learning super interesting stuff about history.

Neither presenter is a historian, so don’t expect learned presentation of the facts. Still, it is enjoyable for people with just a general interest in the subject matter. Unfortunately, too much effort is devoted to finding misogyny in the sources where often none exists.

This podcast is an absolute rock bottom atrocious failed attempt of a history content.

Points for choosing interesting topics. No points for delivery, and many points off for modern politics and for stupid giggling and squeaking etc. I’m female and I can’t stand it.

Who doesn’t like your cold opens? I actually don’t think that title does them justice! Preamble prose, you’re a formidable writer and orator! Also, your podcast really sneaks into those corners of history I’ve always wanted to see. SO well done, much appreciated.

Wildly interesting and absolutely hilarious, i am often laughing to myself at my desk or around the house and dread someone asking me why… i cannot possibly tell them that it’s because of a fictional conversation with ghost julius caesar 😂
