Great content but I dread listening…
I listen to this podcast because they people the hosts talk to are fascinating and have great insights to share, but the production feels really shoddy and the hosts' interview styles feel stilted and awkward. They tend to start by asking fully formed questions that, by the middle of the podcast, have devolved into personal musings with a question mark on the end, resulting in some VERY narrow-in-scope and often leading questions. The hosts almost undoubtedly interview users as part of their normal roles; why don’t they use some of these techniques to interview guests? For example, both hosts will frequently talk about things they experience in their work, before realizing that whatever they are talking about doesn’t really lend itself to open-ended question asking. They inevitably end up just kind of bailing out and asking “does that… uhh… ever happen to you?” instead of asking about the interviewee’s experience outright, thus avoiding cognitive bias. The whole thing also just sounds like it has been recorded on a smartphone, including the theme music. If this is the prototype and we can expect a higher-fidelity version of the pod in the future, then I shall update my review. Until then, I will continue listening faithfully hoping things improve.Read full review »
