Wishy washy
The review below nails it. The first three episodes play the same phone call over and over again. Perhaps in an attempt to make the listener feel the same way as one of the investigators did when he started work on the case? He would listen to it over and over and over again and at first found it to sound like a distressed man calling about his wife and after a while his opinion changed and he instead find it to be "odd". As a listener I didn't feel this way, rather just slightly cheated that I was hearing the call again in such a short time frame. Also the "odd" opinion is unexplained. And there are many more personal opinions that are presented without any of it being explained or broken down. I got so frustrated with the lack of any evidence/facts included that I googled it whilst listening and found out so much more about the case. 5 Episodes in I'm not intrigued, rather miffed as to how this got to the top of the charts. I recommend reading online news reports instead of listening to this, it delivers far more facts and also mentions a case in Germany that is strikingly similar to this case, AND the suspect in this was also the last to see that other victim alive. This intriguing occurrence isn't even mentioned in the podcast. Well I'm through episode 5 and it hasn't yet come up. The podcast doesn't go into detail about the crime scene, it brushes over it. One simple google search reveals a photo (it's slightly disturbing and one of the first images to pop up) which clearly shows just how messy and gruesome the crime scene was. It doesn't mention enough details about the autopsy report (instead we just hear the victims daughter react to it). It gets the opinions of many "experts" involved in the case, but all their comments presented in this podcast lack scientific fact and that is what it needs. The narrative shifts on to the personalities of those involved in the court case, but so many parts to the case haven't even been directed, the personalities of those in court are of very little interest to me at this point. As a listener my focus is purely on the victim, the suspect, the crime scene and the discoveries. It doesn't cover any of these primary areas of interest in enough detail to move onto the brief analysis of the personalities of the judges and attorneys. It's wishy washy which is a shame because as they keep stating, the case itself sounds like the beginning of a movie. I love a good investigative Podcast and I expected much more from this.Read full review »

Not too sure why people are complaining about what is essentially the channels first foray into this area of investigative reporting. I hope the team get the chance to cover other cases! Worth every second of your time!

If the first four episodes are anything to go by, this will prove to be a big disappointment. The case itself is really interesting but the way this podcast presents it makes for frustrating listening. As others have mentioned, so much repetition and no substance. The presenter seems to say his...Read full review »
