Adoption from the Inside
To know who you are and where you come from is central to the human experience, especially for an adoptee. Diego, who renamed himself Aa Tiko, and his adoptive mother search for answers to questions of who, where, why and what now in this well crafted podcast. International adoption is explored through the Guatemala experience. Family members are met in Guatemala and the U.S. The painful and unexpected interplay of adoption, critical health issues and inequity is poignantly shared. Tears are shed. No adoption is the same even when circumstances seem so. My experience with adoption is secrets and buried emotion. This podcast shows how an adoptee and his adoptive mother openly navigate their experiences and emotions, with familial discovery and love. This mother and son duo are talented in the telling. I recommend listening.

Every time there is a commercial break the next segment repeats half of what the last segment just said. Soooo annoying!! It’s basically 5 mins of a story drawn out into 40 mins.

There were times when the mom came across as pretentious and privileged. Despite all the live recordings, I don’t...Read full review »
