Honest, genuine, and very well done!
Defining Diego had me hooked from the first episode! As an adopted person myself, it is rare to find conversation that involves both the adoptee and adoptive parents speaking so honestly together about adoption and the benefits and losses from both perspectives. Some topics addressed include: the corruption in international adoption; uneasiness with some of the adoption practices but yet still adopting; an adoptive parent attempting to help an adoptee keep a bio family connection; an adopted person’s need to find all his pieces in order to figure out who he is; the name/identity struggle; ethics and legalities of accurate birth records; an adoptee balancing 2 families; needing to know health history; DNA issues; language barriers; grief, and more. I highly recommend this podcast to everyone!

I’m on Season 2, Episode 2. I can’t believe the stuff she asks Diego’s biological mother. Just add insult to injury, why don’t ya? I don’t know if I can continue listening to this. It makes me cringe!

I think we should force the DNA test kits to issue warnings on the outside of the box. Its like cigarette warning labels. But, instead of warning about cancer, this label would state that your life may be ruined or completely upended by something so shocking and unexpected you could never be...Read full review »
