Sometimes great ... just a bit flabby
An update after listening to more. It’s half of a great podcast. Topics are terrific. Deep Fakes and Gene Drives had excellent details and insight. Unfortunately, half of the program is dedicated to wokeness, so objectivity and science is forced to leave the room in favor of how racist and sexist we all are (without any skepticism). So I’ll listen to the first half of each one for the goods. Of course, now I have to wonder if their science is driven by an NPR agenda. It’s gotten so hard to find journalists (now scientists) who play it straight. Here’s my initial review. Just an initial review because it's a new podcast with only a handful of episodes. Some of it is tremendous. The radical approach to climate change episode explored the pros and cons (mostly cons) of changing our atmosphere. It was detailed, logical and without emotion. Just outstanding. However, the future of War, once you take away all the introductions, cute speaker stories, commercials, opening general (and obvious) stuff, there was maybe 5 minutes of something useful and interesting (ok, I'm exaggerating a little). The producers should know that the bigger the panel of experts, the more overhead (and less meat) you get. Also, most people who've been executives of large organizations rarely say anything that isn't already known. Years of interviews teach them that. One side note is I haven't seen the usual NPR-type woke stuff. I'm encouraged that I think I've found a podcast which isn't like the 75 others who frame everything in terms of their politics (right or left). When that happens, I find myself questioning everything they say, so keep this up gang.Read full review »

Noah needs to not let his emotions get the best of him when his interviewee expresses viewpoints different than he holds. Yelling at the judge was so tacky. Might as well been listen to a FM radio shock jock. Unsubscribe. I love Pushkin Ind podcasts but this one is not worth your time.

As a middle school teacher helping pre-teens to write their own science-fiction in Creative Writing class (Singapore and California), this podcast is very helpful. Great pedagogy, scientific accuracy, dealing with the problem of lack of diversity in cutting-edge science. My students find these...Read full review »

Eric - 3 stars for trying and getting some discussion going. Try having a guest who’s older than 30 for balance. Your Pollyanna appeal to do the right thing is incredibly naive. Most people already are doing fine on the internet. Your audience should be those not participating well with others...Read full review »
