It's not a horror book, although it has those elements. It's a deep meditation on how modern life forces to accept commercialism in lieu of genuine human interaction. It further ponders our over reliance on systems of support given to us, and the fragility and absurdity of our decisions when we...Read full review »

I was told to hang on, listen through,it will all be explained.... Well what a lot of rubbish! Story is flat and not in the least interesting. Sorry. But no thanks !

This is really good and doesn't deserve the 1star reviews. Sound/recording quality is a bit sketchy at times, but well narrated and the story pulls you in so you don't notice after couple of chapters.

I almost bailed on this podiobook but I'm glad I didn't. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a comedy or a horror story at first...I mean, are people that stupid that they can't figure out how to walk down the steps or find alternate ways out of the mall? It was unreal...and I was starting...Read full review »

But I liked it .... Keeps you on the wire throughout the storie . Did get a lil confused when trucker hat told his storie. But it worked out maybe I missed some intro. All in all things came togeather in the end thanx for all your hard work

Broken Escalator is a great book. I didn't know what to think at first, but as I listened, I really began to enjoy the story.

I've heard better, but have listened to way worst. Its worth the time I guess BUT has a kind of subpar ending. Its kind of predictable, as well.

4 stars for writing, 3 for audio. Too bad I can't give a 3.5 rating. I enjoyed the book, but the audio quality wasn't too good. There would be sentences with severe volume changes. The first part of the book was pretty good (although the music and dr cymbal sound would randomly break in) and in...Read full review »

Through out the whole book you are wondering.....why can't they just leave and you just shake your head at the story. But you have to listen to the end to get the real story.

First off don't listen to the "oh why don't they walk down the stairs" bunch!! IF you listen to the whole story it will be told why people can't use anything but the dreaded escalator! It keeps you wondering why?? Why is this happening why can't they use stairs?! Ok it is far fetched but that...Read full review »

Ok, so like other people, I worry about the basic premise of this story. Why can't they just walk down the broken escalators? Other than that, it's well read by the author and well written in general. Just a bit more thought needed.

wow
I heard about this from a friend while he was starting to listen to it and we both laughed and joked as many here have stated, but upon listening to the book in its whole i found it was actually a really interesting book. Good job Chris

I'm pretty sure this isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I definitely loved it. Gripped me right from the intro all the way to the end. Original idea, albeit bizarre and hard to believe at first, but the strangeness and creepiness of it kept me going. Superbly written with a strong hook throughout....Read full review »

Not enough detail about why people couldnt just walk down....or find a lift...or just go out a fire escape. Im not going to spoil the end for people who want to listen but story seems a bit lacking. Good story telling but the story its self is made up of a lot of non-sense that seems to progress...Read full review »

While I don't know if this is a parody or not, it's by far the funniest thing I've ever downloaded from iTunes. It keeps me on the edge of my seat, downloading the next chapter. When will they decide to use them as stairs? When will someone call the fire department? Is this a satirical commentary...Read full review »

The story telling is average and the character interactions not bad but the BASIC IDEA is utter crap! An escalator is a motorised staircase, if its broken then its just a staircase! Why wouldn't you just walk down it!
The evil-milkman via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 11/16/12
Yeah! I've been scratching my head trying to figure out why people don't just walk down them!!! Is this a dream??? 1st chapter good so far though! Well done!

This book is awesome!! I am very impressed with this writers ability to capture my attention. I listened to this book for a day straight without stopping because it keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. What a great listen! I highly recommend!

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a comedy or not but I am rolling on the floor. How do you get trapped on a floor with an escalator? A broken escalator is just stairs! Lol! What has society come too?
