Review of episode 201
I’ve been listening to Amy’s podcasts for about a year and attended the LSBC last fall. Everything I’ve heard makes sense, but nothing has stuck or made a real difference until this episode. Hearing the concepts of having a baseline and the vicious circle of withdrawal and withdrawal relief were life changing. Being told that it’s my responsibility to stay free of my habit was something I needed to hear. Although Amy always says there’s nothing to do to break your habit, I came away from this episode with a to do…or maybe it’s just a process. Ie, Hear the thought. Recognize it’s a monster habit talking. Pivot the other way. I always thought the pivot point was handled with a decision to not do my habit. Having to make that decision numerous times during the day seemed exhausting. But, there’s no decision nor is there any real effort to making the pivot once you see that the thought is coming from the habit itself. I transcribed most of this episode and will refer back to my notes as I stay in the conversation and engage in the material to stay free if my habit. Thank you so much for this episode and interview.

I’m familiar with so many models of self-improvement. This is so simple and rings so true that it’s almost hard to believe how effective it it has been in my life. So happy that Dr. Amy Johnson is doing this podcast.
