I just discovered this podcast and cannot believe I wasn’t aware of it before. These two hosts provide intelligent and poignant analysis on every single episode and it is an absolute treat to listen to. I feel like i get smarter after every episode

I have enjoyed quite a few of Thomas Flight‘s YouTube videos and was very disappointed with this podcast. I went through the entire five-part series on gangster films and found it lacking in substance, insight or any added value. The two hosts ramble along, with endless 'ums' and...Read full review »

I’m a big fan of both essayists and their content on YouTube, unfortunately there seems a massive difference in writing and narrating thoughts that are structured, and discussions between the 2. Mr Flight constantly seems to struggle verbalising his thoughts off the cuff, to the point where the...Read full review »

The hosts are thoughtful film critics. They’re always attempting to bring a new insight to the film they’re discussing. I appreciate their focus on fostering film appreciation vs shocking the audience or relying on gimmicks. I also appreciate that it’s a clean film podcast as I can share it with...Read full review »

I enjoy both of the hosts YouTube channels but in the podcast they tend to ramble on too much often about something really not that subjectively or objectively important. Losing the trains of thought from jumping from one topic to the other also makes it boring. I still listen to the episodes of...Read full review »

Love the show. Find it very fulfilling. I would like to suggest a show or two separate shows first covering the movie “After Life” from 1998 by Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda. What a fantastic film it is. Then cover the movie “Nine Days” by Edson Oda who said he was inspired by After Life...Read full review »

I like their YouTube content but this podcast is just okay. I figured listening to them talk about film would be entertaining, but they aren’t fun to listen to or interesting in this format.

The two hosts have amazing YouTube channels and so I was excited to see them podcasting together. I’ve binged most of the series over the last few weeks. Rises above most movie podcasts out there.

These guys are smart, they’re passionate about film, and they are good. Really good. You think you know a film and they will give you new dimensions you hadn’t considered. A joy.

Really enjoy the conversations, but they make it abundantly clear that they don’t want you listening on whatever platform you prefer. There’s an ad at the beginning, the end, and like 2 sprinkled around. And they’re long, like sometimes up to 3 freaking minutes. Once at the start and end should...Read full review »

One of the best movie podcasts out there. Thomas and Tom are fantastic hosts. Well spoken without being pretentious or boring. They know their stuff and they have really interesting takes and views that let you change your own perspective on the discussed film. Keep up the great work. Maybe a...Read full review »

Two great young movie connoisseurs having a very authentic and approachable conversation about movies you care about or should care about. I learn something about the movies themselves and the concept of what a movie can be every time I put it on. A great podcast!

When I heard these two were teaming up for a podcast I subscribed immediately since I’m such a fan of their individual work. I projected my own hopes for the series onto them… finally a truly intelligent series on classic films (Criterion, Expressionism, Silents, and Golden Age Hollywood). I was...Read full review »

The pace is a nice breath of fresh air. This is a very peaceful yet engaging set of conversations.

One of my favourite podcasts. Thomas and Tom discuss the detail and nuances of cinema without the ego or snobbish attitude that is often attached to those knowledgable about the industry. Entertaining and educational. Episodes can’t come quick enough!

Have been looking for weeks for a movie-based podcast that I really like and I am totally entranced by listening to these guys! These guys amazingly bring life and wonder to every movie they discuss and are great at not talking over each other. Highly recommend for anyone who loves movies and...Read full review »

One of the best movie podcasts out there. The two hosts have a massive movie knowledge, they are engaging, and it is just fun listening to their conversations and deep-dives.

Absolutely loved the Northman episode. These two guys managed to cover everything I found so interesting about the movie but couldn’t articulate half as well as them. Looking forward to binging the rest of the catalogue.

As a big fan of Like Stories of Old this podcast offers one more venue to listen to thoughtful film analysis. I enjoy the dual commentary and their blend of old and new movies.

Was a big fan of both YouTube channels independently, and this collaboration is as excellent as you’d expect. Really insightful and thought provoking whilst still remaining accessible.

I really love this podcast! They manage to break down the various elements and symbols of movies in conversations that flow very naturally. The last episode about the movie Pig, for example, really broaden my understanding of the movie by dissecting the structure and also bringing to light some...Read full review »

Finally a good film podcast. I usually complain about all film podcasts being just two or more guys talking, instead of more narrative formats. This is still true of this one, but it’s somehow a lot better than the rest. I love both the guys for their great video essays already and the quality...Read full review »

Cinema of Meaning. Guys, I followed here from the most excellent Youtube channels and remain excited to hear the two of you unpack the meanings behind the film. However, your pacing here is a bit slow. Oddly enough, when the two of you are talking about the length of The Batman movie, you went on...Read full review »
