Everyone saying it’s biased- of course everyone has their biases, but it’s interesting hearing from Aimen who has so much real life experience in this topic, and Thomas is a great host who is so knowledgeable. I’d much rather hear Aimens real life experience then someone who is never lived that...Read full review »

Find Thomas Islamophobic! Apparently an ‘Arabic scholar’. Like many, has no problem taking a piece of the culture but you can feel his disdain towards its people!

Likeable hosts. Good chemistry. The story behind the story. A dense tapestry of geopolitics, history and ideology woven together with a thread of humour and humanity

The seasons are brilliant, but the “Conflicted Community” episodes are filled with punditry that lacks the same production style and nuances as the main episodes. The subscription for bonus episodes is still worth it.

Don’t listen to the weirdo pro-Hamas reviews, they’re just mad that Aimen switched sides. Devastated the episodes are behind a paywall now.

These guys are a couple of polymaths. I came to get an honest perspective on Islamism, and I’ve been treated to eye opening perspectives and insights. I’m completely addicted.

As someone that studied Middle Eastern conflict/history in university-this podcast is absolutely amazing, interesting and informative! Absolutely enjoy thoroughly. Amanda from 🇨🇦

This podcast is light on facts. If you actually want to learn about the Middle East then better to just read books/articles by Robert Fisk, Norman Finkelstein, Ilan Pappé, John Pilger, John Mearsheimer, Gideon Levy, Edward Said, Noam Chomsky, Amira Hass.

…and their future predictions are the ramblings of a scared child. But the historical episodes are thorough and insightful. The host is ok when he sticks to hosting, but his dad jokes are beyond all, more like crazy uncle jokes. They act like they have all the answers, but when it comes time to...Read full review »

Very biased authors. Aimen started off as a radical Islamist, and now turned to the other extreme, a radical pro US official mouthpiecece. Forgiving and excusing for the US allies, and then upholding much harsher stances for the US enemies. In regards to I/P conflict where I have done...Read full review »

I have binged listened the entire podcast and now am going back and dissecting each episode. So good!! And just like Aimen said: relax and try to listen! Don’t bring your judgement into this but I guess it’s very hard for a certain dear listener, who has certain ideology which is hard to break...Read full review »

A great pairing: Aimen Deen (a former jihadist) and Thomas Small (an Orthodox Christian and Arab scholar). Mutual respect, and yet complete independence of thought. A good antidote to partisanship in much that is said and written on the roots of the modern Middle East and its enormous influence...Read full review »

This is the most critically well thought out discussion on a topic that is so complex on so many levels. I love the questions Thomas asks and the brutally honest answers from Aimen. I have so much respect for Aimen to have made the moral and intellectually honest choices he did at such a young...Read full review »

Came here from the podcast The Spy Who, and wowww was so impressed by the smarts and knowledge of Aimen and honestly of both guys here. You can hear that Aimen is a man that has live sooo much and his knowledge is impressive. Love the podcast!

Been listening to them since day 1! Love the genuine friendship between the hosts and resulting thoughtful and informative conversation from different viewpoint and upbringings. Unfortunately now most of that content is only teased and requires 3rd party paid subscriptions. Many podcasts are...Read full review »

I started listening shortly after the events on October 7 2023. I have always searched for a “neutral source” to help explain the simmering molten lava that is the Middle East. I did not want to listen to more of the same garbage we’ve been fed over the decades. What grabbed my interest in this...Read full review »

I have listened to a number of episodes and in particular the so called emergency episode on the events of Oct 7 and I am extremely dismayed to hear the hosts parroting reports of babies being beheaded and rape being used as a tactic of the Hamas and other militants prior to there having been any...Read full review »

I honestly been listening to this podcast for years. I have accepted that I do not always agree with the host view of the situation. I often disagreed but still appreciated their willingness to engage with each other and their audience. During the last few months, Aimen has turned into a true...Read full review »

The podcasts contents are great, no doubt. Only 2 stars due to the introduction of paid “community” episodes. I listened the latest episode for 10 minutes and was interrupted that I need to join their “community“ which is a nice way of saying pay us 5$ per month for what was offered for free before.

Education as it should be - great way to learn thanks to the knowledge and chemistry of the hosts! The historical information combined with the latest and current developments really broaden the knowledge of the Middle East

If you are interested in the Middle East in any way this is an astonishingly brilliant podcast series. it’s hosted by Thomas Small, an American filmmaker and fluent Arabic speaker, and Aimen Dean. Aiken Dean is the Arab version of an Unvle Tom, this is a completely Israeli/western perspective being pushed forward by Israeli puppets. Worst podcast about the Middle East I have yet to hear. Negative stars I’d possible

The takes on Palestine have been painful to listen to. Some interesting perspective, but lacking compassion and the solutions presented are simply fantasy and wishing for a return to a past that will never return. Sad to unfollow this show.

Such a pity this great show has double standards when it comes to Palestine. Clearly, it is frightened of the Zionist lobby. When the presenter spoke of how sickening it was to think of what might happen to the Jews but literally nothing for the Palestinians it was sadly and dismally obvious we...Read full review »

I would give this 5 stars if it was Aimen Dean alone on the podcast. As an international relations and history graduate with work experience in journalism and international politics, I can happily write that Conflicted is amongst the best non-BBC programmes out there. Exceptionally well researched and very, very enlightening. Well done to all and my sincere thanks.
