I recommend this podcast to friends more than any other podcast! It is fun to listen to and I always learn something. I think the hosts do a great job explaining DC culture and our city’s foods. I especially recommend it to people who like to eat (that’s everyone!). It’s also great if you’re from...Read full review »

I really like the hosts and the topics they cover.

Great company on my walks. Even when talking about the terrible effects of the pandemic on the restaurant industry, they don’t use the urgent tone of voice of cable news. Reality without ginned up drama. Interesting, personal, informative. I find myself liking the people they talk to as well as...Read full review »

The interview with Brooke was hard to listen to. Actually painful. There are so many people in this community that would love to give an interesting perspective and interview and I didn’t hear any thing of substance in hers it seemed empty. It’s sad and had no depth. I understand that it’s not...Read full review »

I have become immune to the ranting of food critics and food experts and James beard finalist in the DC metro area. This is the place where I have seen over the last 30 years food culture has gone to die and this podcast is the dead on arrival still born grand child of The DMV. Never have a seen...Read full review »

Wonderful subject matter but I want to scream with how often the hosts and guests are saying 'like'. It's ignorant. If you played a drinking game - took a shot every time someone saids 'like', you'd die . I think Papusas win the 'like' awardRead full review »

If you live in the DMV, this podcast is a must. Even if you don't live here, the pocast is worth a listen if you are interested in learning about restaurant trends and the way that culture--past and present, native and immigrant--affects them.Read full review »

The Dish City Podcast is a great listen for anyone interested in the food and historical cultures of the DC area. The conversations Ruth and Patrick have with restaurant owners, chefs, consumers, long-time Washingtonians, coworkers, and friends are all so thorough and engaging. Their deep-dives...Read full review »

It’s really interesting to hear the food culture of another city, especially when I’m surrounded by a city that believes it “owns” culture.

Very impressed so far! I love learning about the history and cultures around some of my fave DC foods, and hearing about spots I haven’t yet been to. This is an excellently produced podcast!

As a DC transplant, I find each episode super relevant and informative. The interviews, perspectives, and bite-sized history lessons in each episode offer just enough to chew on as I navigate this rapidly gentrifying city. I only wish the episodes were longer because it’s such good content!

Love this podcast. I moved to DC 5 years ago, and I’ve had the same questions this podcast strives to answers. What is a half smoke? Why is the Ethiopian food in DC so plentiful and delicious. Every episode is a walk through DC’s neighborhoods. Just waiting for the episode about José Andres’...Read full review »
