I struggled for ages to find a South African podcast that does a deep dive on local issues - what a thrill to find such an excellent one! Shout out to the whole team for creating something to informative, entertaining, and galvanizing 🙌

As a transplanted American living in SA, this show really helps me understand societal and cultural forces here. The episodes are well put together on relevant topics and I always come away having learned something interesting and useful. My only complaint is that it is not more frequent :)

Thank you for your podcast on LongCOVID. I suffered badly with the virus last March for just over a week and then the symptoms persisted for a year. I now feel I am over the worst of it but I still get debilitating attacks on my heart, my lungs, by brain and my gut. Occasional chronic fatigue...Read full review »

Haji and Rebecca make a great combination on this podcast series. For US listeners Rebecca reminds me of Rachel Maddow - she's sharp, progressive, funny and very listenable. In Series 3 they're doing solutions and it's fascinating. I've just listened to the "Race2Dinner"...Read full review »

Just listened to the “What Rwanda got right that South Africa didn’t” episode. Fantastic conversation. I’d love if DSTM could do an episode on further solutions to racism in contemporary SA!

Because you asked so nicely, here it is. Always interesting, always thought-provoking, always educational, often entertaining and amusing too... a Sunday night staple. It should be yours too. World class podcast, produced - please note, considering this week’s topic - by women. LGBTIAQ+ women...Read full review »

I absolutely love this podcast. This season has been particularly captivating. I beam with South African pride at the quality of the content and production every time I listen. My only comments would be...make it longer and make more!

The pre-natal care (as important as the message is), was being repeated and a long term solution, which is great, but we need something now...a more mediate solution. I think the telling of SA’s history, objectively by scholars, is a great way to make us realise the damage of the past, and how to...Read full review »

I agree with all others - my only complaint is that I would like the episodes to be longer! They’re so engaging - I’m genuinely upset when the episode ends!

I WOULD LOVE FOR THESE PODCASTS TO BE AT LEAST AN HOUR LONG IF NOT MORE!!! TOPICS OFTEN ARE HIGHLY INTERESTING AND COMPLEX, THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH IN THE STORIES TO LAST LONGER AND CONTAIN EVEN MORE INFORMATION....

I love how podcasts open up a world I know little about. With “Don’t Shoot the Messenger” it’s my own country. The Koeberg bombing plot, Snake Park and Somali communities and E-learning flourishing under lockdown (in rural eastern cape). Wonderful!

I just listened to the episode, “The plot to blow up Koeberg, Part 1: The man with the blueprint“ and it was riveting listening. It’s time the atrocities of the Apartheid Government of the old South Africa get revisited and ventilated for the world to remember what those dark days were like for...Read full review »

I just listened to this episode. I kept thinking of revisionist history podcast by Malcolm Gladwell, then came the parting words that golf “is a good walk spoiled”. Those are the exact words by Gladwell. In any case all I can say is down with golf courses. There are many similarities between...Read full review »
