“One of the big problems in science fiction is that all too often, you don't get to hear from the female voices. One of the things that I really like about Geek's Guide to the Galaxy is the fact that they have introduced me to many, many female authors that I might otherwise not have tried. From Seanan McGuire to Genevieve Valentine to Ellen Kushner, Dave and John are very balanced in the guests that they have on. I think that's great.
On the whole, I quite like the podcasts; the interviews--even when it's with an author I don't personally read--are always interesting. The one down side is the post-interview chats. Sometimes these chats are interesting and involving, but there are also times when it devolves into a session where Dave or John (or a guest) spend a lot of time hammering on a particular theme or area that bothers them. The lengthy discussion by (I think) Dave about why the religious imagery in "Prometheus" got somewhat tedious. A little more discipline during the discussion--or perhaps a heaver editing hand--would be great.
That aside, this is a great podcast for lovers of science fiction and fantasy, and you should give it a listen if you're a fan.”Read full review »

And the discussion after the interview is a nice added bonus. I like that it doesn't try to wrap up its...”Read full review »

“It would be easy to dismiss this podcast on a first listening - it's not technically great in terms of sound production quality; some earlier episodes have way too many "you knows" for this level of podcasting; it tends to assume US-centric values (the internet knows no borders!); the...”Read full review »
