“I think Girlscamp does a pretty good job of creating a place for post Mormon women to gather and have some fun with the trauma so many of us have. It’s healing in a lot of ways. I think what could make it better would be to maybe lengthen the campfire chat episodes because so often it’s mostly Hayley speaking to her experience, which is so fair, it’s her podcast, but I always wished we got to hear more than three or four submissions.
I don’t want to post a review only about critiques but I have a couple thoughts: many of the guests seem to have such little experience actually adhering and believing in the Mormon way of life and I wish we could have more guests that gave it their all well into their 20’s or 30’s and then left. There have been quite a few episodes where I just don’t care to listen because the guests never really lived Mormonism in adulthood. Maybe that’s just because that’s what I would relate to though?
One more thought: $15 CAD a month is a lot for patreon and it would be so nice if there was a lower tier that could access the bonus episodes maybe without extras available to those who pay more? For those of us on budgets living in this economy, subscriptions are really the worst. I do love the fun spin that Girlscamp puts on the post-Mormon podcast genre and I think so much of what Hayley talks about is so important and relatable. I always look forward to Wednesdays because of Girlscamp!”
