Why must the interviewer be so confrontational and pompous? It’s completely Murdoch style. Tedious and disrespectful of your interviewee. I won’t listen again. A shame, lots of good interviewees in there.

I like your podcast and interviews generally, sometimes they are hard to listen to, but the interview with Bassem Youssef was delightful.

The host gets to the point and is quick to point out inconsistencies with his guests. A very informative podcast.

Stephen Sackur conducts thorough, fair, probing, and revealing interviews with a very diverse set of guests. The level of research into each show is unparalleled. A true jewel in the BBC crown.

Thank you ever so much for your service to the public. As a German I am very enthusiastic about the way you pick your „guests“ brains and the way you do not let them get away with their prepared lines that they get away with everywhere else. Especially the non native speakers sometimes show their...Read full review »

As a long time fan of the BBC and many of its media productions over the years, I found myself surprised and extremely disappointed in listening to Sarah Montague’s interview with Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration. Far from being the balanced and perceptive inquiry that I have...Read full review »

I listened to one show, an interview with Richard Thaler. Won’t listen again. Thaler was great but the interviewer just seemed intent on arguing and goading his interviewee so that even when they were agreeing with each other the interviewer seemed outraged.

For the past year the quality and content of this podcast has significantly declined. It’s like every interview in the past year is about Ukraine. Although it is important there are other important issues going on around the world. More diversity of topics and less Ukraine will be nice!

Terrible interview with Rothman about Israel’s judicial reforms today where Sackur was clearly at loss a to counter Rothman on the same intellectual level. The British arrogance… A discussion about democracy as the crux argument used by both sides in this problem would have been very interesting....Read full review »

Stephen Sackur should be allowed to give some of the delusional interviewees, like former Russian political advisers, a good slapping whilst conducting the interview.

Steven Sackur does an amazing job with his guests on Hard Talk. I can only imagine the amount of research which goes into his shows. Thank you for this great program!

I understand you can’t deal with everyone with the same severity but I was expecting hard talk to be hard all round. Steven is, in some cases, pushy and overbearing using a no holds barred method of interrogating those he interviews. Fair enough, it’s hard talk, right!? Not for the left wingers....Read full review »

Fauci ate your lunch, then apologized, then respectfully described why your lunch was better in his belly than yours. I’ve been an avid fan of “hard talk” for years. This interview makes me think the series, “hard talk”, may need a new, more dynamic host. An old man asking pre-selected questions...Read full review »

It’s always a rich and rewarding experience to listen to interviews in HARDtalk, bringing honestly the debates and expert opinions and talks on a range of topics from political to science, literature, law, religion etc. by asking tough questions with an attempt to unearth the truth, reality of...Read full review »

Really poor interview of the Israeli ambassador more like a cosy chat than hard talk. Typical of the treatment of much of the mainstream media of Israeli officials, always treat them with kid gloves as opposed to those supporting Palestinians

This Pod is one of the best to put on during 20 minute-or-so car rides. It’s thought provoking, high quality, and Stephen always asks the ideal questions/rebuts. If more people listened to this program we’d have a more intelligent, measured and thoughtful public domain. The biggest guests, the...Read full review »

I’ve watched and listened to hardtalk for many years initially via BBC World and now via the podcast. Generally the topics are interesting and relevant. Fabulous guests who make the podcast interesting. I applaud most of the guests who venture into these interviews fully knowing the extent of hard-left bias and constant interruptions. The show should be renamed “hard-left” instead of “hard-talk”....Read full review »

I love hardtalk. But I do find that Stephen interrupts his guests a lot. I also appreciate that some of them just rattle on far too much and ignore the premise of the question. So I think the video / COVID format of the show has certainly made it more combative in nature. Just another victim of...Read full review »

the name of this show should be Hard to talk. why would you invite a guess if you don’t allow them to talk. Better run a monologue show. Audience would probably enjoy more.

Subjects and material generally interesting. That said, it’s irritating to keep pushing the predictable BBC socialist agenda. What happened to common courtesy at the BBC ? When asking a question, let them answer. It’s really annoying listening to two people talking over each other.
Husky58 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/23/20
Unable to give no stars. Don’t presume that one star means theres some good element to a bias podcast. Only asks the hard questions when it’s a policy the BBC opposes. The bias rips out of the presenter. This pod is for people that want their bias reinforced. Good job representing only half the...Read full review »

If you’re interested in hearing what guests have to say, this podcast is not for you. The reporter is brutal. Montague constantly interrupts her guests. She doesn’t seem to actually listen to what they are saying. She comes across as apathetic and self-important.
