Society tells us disconnection from the world means we're broken. My journey through mental illness taught me disconnection is actually a natural defense mechanism.
Living with depression and anxiety drove me to create mental barriers, including constant internal music and visual filters. These coping mechanisms helped me survive but ultimately deepened my isolation.
