Essential listening for 'exvangelists'
I've been listening to Jake & Brooke with my morning coffee, just like my mom listened to James Dobson in the 80s. This podcast is brilliant with Jake's sound intellectual and academic approach that becomes even more robust with the casual analysis in his conversations with Brooke. The queer lens that they bring to the material is the finishing touch. It's key to helping people - this nearly 69 year old cis-het woman, for one - undoing the rigid black-and-white stranglehold that evangelical homes left them in because it opens the door to nuance and the infinite aspects of being human that are outrightly rejected in evangelical homes. Jake & Brooke's conversation brings in all the colours that human existence should be infused with. I adore their humour and laughter, their cheekiness, and their honesty and respect for hurting souls. I'm so grateful to bring their voices into my home.Read full review »
