Listened to the entire podcast in one afternoon. Tragic cycle of abuse and violence. Podcaster has a bright future.

This podcast puzzled me at first with the strong narration of the journalist which often felt like reading. But having listened to the whole series now, i can see how fine, ethical and considered the journalist’s work is. She has eschewed gratuity and scandal to focus on the voices of the...Read full review »

I was interested in the podcast and trudged through the painfully slow speaking narrator. Her voice is nice but the speaking was too slow for my brain lol. Also narrator is flat and dull throughout. I think the narrator has potential, just needs to bring it up a notch …

I think the host has potential for future stories. I don't mind the pacing at all. There are issues with pronunciation of words though and at times I felt like I was listening to an elementary kid reading from a book. Just takes more practice is all. What I didn't like about the content...Read full review »

An interesting in-depth review, however the last few episodes rehashed the same info about Victor with no major steps forward. No other evidence past word of mouth and family rumours which made the last episodes more uninteresting after a good start with the first episodes.

The podcast starts off great. It’s intriguing, and keeps the story moving forward. The middle few episodes really aren’t needed imho. It starts to delve into random persons pasts that don’t really have that much to do with the actual case. I felt like those episodes could have been condensed...Read full review »

I loved this podcast. Dragonfly follows the 1993 unsolved murder of music executive Brett Cantor. The cold case investigation tracks the history of Brett’s case from 1993 to 2023, highlighting other high profile crimes that may be connected to Brett’s murder. The series features interviews with...Read full review »

Definitely worth a listen! And yes the hosts are young women who speak in the contemporary fashion. This isn’t Casefile or some big American news outlet show. Give them some grace…or just go listen to Nancy Grace lol

This podcast had me on the edge of my seat. So many twists and turns. Such a tragic story and heart goes out to Maria and her family. From what I heard it seems obvious to me who did it but then maybe I don’t have all the information. I hope Maria gets her justice and the right person spends the...Read full review »

I’m really enjoying this podcast, I’m finding several of the episodes quite compelling.

One of the better true crime podcasts I’ve heard recently. I’m guessing the one star reviews are from the audiochuck crowd.

It’s surprising to have a show like this on Wondery, which is usually such a slam dunk. I can’t bear to listen to some one just read a idcast to me. I had to just turn it off on episode 2

Very interesting podcast, well researched. I liked the voice of the presenter and the music. It does go into the domestic abuse in the family more than you might expect, it is all relevant but could be triggering.

Terrible story but I can’t keep focused on the narrative
Velvetjml via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/25/23
I’m trying to stay engaged with the story but the narrator is just not very engaging and I’m not sure she has enough investigative journalism experience to pull this off.

Tragic story but podcast is excellent. Great narration and research

So this is being advertised as previously available only through a subscription to wondery+ and in fact is still only available through a subscription to wondery+ Fix that casefile!

I got the1st episode feb 6 it’s now May20 I’m going to listen to the 19/5/23 casefile and Casey is still running the same ad there are no other episodes

The story is interesting and quite moving in its dept[iction of generational trauma, but the clearly inexperienced reporter is just not up to a task that requires aggressive investigation and critical reflection. Too bad. And may I say that charging for content of this quality is too close to...Read full review »

Well researched and written. A powerful story. Bless the victim’s family and I wish them all the best!

It’s an interesting true crime story but the podcaster’s voice is so monotonous that you miss key info very easily. It’s difficult to follow, so much info at the same time, names, dates, details.
noelicious86 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 05/17/23
Sorry, but I’m perplexed by the production pro who listens to this host and says, “yeah, this sounds great.” I couldn’t get through 5 mins of the first episode, so I’m bummed that I won’t learn much about this California desert story.

Writing and editing is pretty good, narration is so bad that even for free I cannot listen to this.
Pya3g via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/18/23
I listened to the first episode. Then I realized all the rest of the episodes were subscription only podcasts. Would not have wasted my time on the first one.
Laurak829 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/12/23
I liked the first one…. But are you going to release more? It’s been weeks and no other episodes? If the rest are for subscribers only let me know so I can unfollow.

The narrator sounded unprofessional. This could have been half as long there were a lot of unnecessary tangents. Did the narrator really say Mike Tyson biting the ear of a man is more scandalous than the rape of a woman??
MNBree via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/23/23
The story is so tragic on so many levels. Besides Maria, I think the biggest victim here is Mirasol. How she can forgive her mother for doing what she did, speaks volumes of her as a human being. I’m so happy she has gone on to live a good life. There is very little doubt that Victor was Maria’s...Read full review »

This podcast series is well written, researched, and produced. It really drags you in and keeps you binging it until the end. I look forward to more releases from Ottavia.

The grammatical errors and malapropisms scream for a basic copy edit of this amateurish script. Unlistenable.
issa-poo via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 03/03/23
The narrator delivery is very monotone. They need a professional to take over. Story is intriguing. However, I couldn’t make it past the first episode because of the unprofessional narration.

Listening to true crime podcasts for 8 years...thought I'd share that as some background of my experience. While this story "may" be worthy of a podcast, it's unfortunate for me that I'll never find that out. The monotony of the storyteller has me shutting it off each time I...Read full review »

I don’t get the negativity here by some reviewers regarding “ voice tone “. Anyway on with the positive, this is a well done podcast that’s worth a listen in my view. Remember to keep things respectful and that if podcasting was easy everyone would be doing it right ? Love from Canada 🇨🇦

To many podcasts are asking for subscriptions now and they don’t have enough shows to keep you interested for 5+ dollars a month… dumb never listen to anything by Wondery again 👎
Grett45 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/21/23
I binged this podcast in about 2 days. Fantastic storytelling. I think this podcast could very well make a difference in Maria’s case in the future. My heart goes out to her incredible family 💕
