“I was extremely skeptical learning from a non-native speaker. The title even implies skepticism! Serge? He ain't Chinese. Since it's free (at least the podcast), it was worth a try after I had bought two other cheap Chinese language material. Serge makes learning fun because he completely understands what a non-native speaker is experiencing to learn a difficult language. His pronunciation is over-emphasized, but necessary to pick up on the nuances. Once you practice the tones repeatedly in the over-emphasized manner, then you listen carefully to his assistant to further fine tune the pronunciations. This is the same process in which I learned Spanish. You'll have to buy the transcripts to really learn but the price is very reasonable for what I consider a superb course.”Read full review »
