In this week’s episode Hannah and Ali talk all things radical belonging. They are honored to be joined by the esteemed Dr. Lindo Bacon to discuss their new book “Radical Belonging: How to Survive and Thrive in an Unjust World (While Transforming It for the Better)”. Lindo not only helps us understand the science behind coping strategies and the harm our bodies experience when being marginalized, but uses their own lived experience with gender identity to bring these concepts to life and ultimately highlight our common need for belonging. Together, Hannah, Ali and Lindo answer listener questions about how to break free from diet culture when it seems like controlling your weight is your only way to find belonging. Where do you start with recovery when your eating disorder feels like your best friend? What if people treat you better when you lose weight? How do you handle the trauma of weight stigma if weight loss isn’t an option? We live in a world that tells you that in order to find belonging, we must conform to society’s impossible standards and ideals. Together with THE Dr. Lindo Bacon, Hannah and Ali bring you an episode which explores intersectionality, authenticity and the hope that all people are able to experience true belonging.
