I’m not quite done the podcast yet, but it’s a fine piece of journalism on guns & their hold on American life presently. A deep dive, I’m learning things I have never even heard of before. Balanced & utterly fascinating. But also, of course, rather sad.

Saying that the senseless loss of life at sandy hook was from a “weapon of war” with no mention of the problem of mental health that the shooter displayed tells you all you need to know about the propaganda spewing from this podcast. Everything is because of the evil gun even though most of...Read full review »

The blatant bigotry, the misinformation, and the anti-American hate oozes from top to bottom. This show seems to be out to prove that the left wing can be just as whackadoodle as the right wing. If it wasn’t so sad, it would be funny. One of the things that did make me laugh was trotting out the...Read full review »

Each season of Long Shadow is like a beautifully crafted documentary film. I discovered Long Shadow a few weeks ago, and since then have dedicated every free moment of my time to listening exclusively to this podcast. I just finished all three seasons, and cannot wait for future seasons. I feel...Read full review »

You know Jaimie Gorelick wrote the memo strengthening that wall between the CIA and FBI, which she then refused to testify to her own 911 commission about, right? She left the Clinton administration after writing that wall memo and from 1997-2003 she was vice president of Fannie Mae, which is...Read full review »

In the episode entitled “An AR for everyone” you assert Robin broke no laws by giving a rifle to a minor. That is false. Straw purchases are absolutely illegal. Sure, I can give a gun to my children, but I annoy buy one on behalf of a prohibited person. Robin’s was a straw purchase. I doubt...Read full review »

One of the most important podcasts. Wish every American could listen and learn the true history of guns in America and the second amendment.

Season 3 of Long Shadow achieves the same magic as the prior two. With nuance and care, Graff and the entire Long Shadow team deliver another engrossing, necessary look at the American-only epidemic of gun violence. The finale episode, Generation Lockdown, proved most fascinating to me....Read full review »

I just finished listening to 'Long Shadow' Season 3: In Guns We Trust, a well-executed follow-up to their Season 2, The Rise of the American Far Right. While Season 3 is somewhat more meandering, this mirrors the complexity of the subject it covers. Garrett Graff excels as a host and...Read full review »

UPDATED REVIEW: The 9/11 series was gut-wrenching but riveting and taught me something new about a day I thought I understood — without partisanship or exploitation. Season 2’s exploration of the rise of the far right was a clear-eyed, sober-minded account — often disturbing, sometimes...Read full review »

I listened to season 2 before I listened to season one because I was interested in learning the history of the American far right movement. Usually these podcast are pretty good but this one is just crappy half truths and contradictions. It reminds me of trump giving a press conference. Great podcast, but in the last episode of season 2 the host accidentally says “January 5, 2020” several times when he’s clearly talking about what was happening the day before the January 6, *2021* attack. First off, the facts that are presented are not totally accurate as I know them. The alt right is a problem. There is no denying that. While many of these groups are scum, this series paints everyone with the same broad brush which minimizes the evil of some, and overstates the evil of others. It’s a political hit piece which groups anyone of a conservative political view as a terrorist.

It’s so easy to forget the onslaught of right wing extremism and all the warnings, all the conspiracy theories, and the limited resources applied to the situation by the federal government. From Ruby Ridge to 911 to Trump/racism and eventually Jan 6. All put in perspective thoughtfully. A++
